No vegetation around it and it’s quite windy, but lots of wildlife. We saw flamingos, a condor, juanguanacos, and Rhea’s. Had a great time watching the kite surfers too.

Traveling by ship is very different. The boys loved going outside the cabin. But it was comfortable. The arrival at the Cristina instance went well. Commoda good and very Argentinian

Lago Argentino was magnificent! A stunning location, awesome scenery and great place to enjoy. Having stopped to enjoy a brief look at Lago Argentino en-route to visit Perito Moreno Glacier the day before we returned on foot from our hotel just a short distance away the following morning. The sun was shining, air as fresh as it comes and the sky was a beautiful shade of blue.

We were followed almost the entire way by a dog that seemed to enjoy the walk as much as we did. That is until he decided to join a group of people photographing each other next to the large El Calafate sign!

Time permitting we would have happily spent more time walking or sitting simply taking in the views and relaxing environment.

Love it - amazing bird watching. Flamingos galore! And many other waterfowl, not to mention free-range horses in the marshes.

The colors were stunning and it truly is a wonderful lake next to the airport as you fly in! You can also take short or long boat trips out to see the various glaciers,

I absolutely forgot to mention in my El Calafate hotel review that it’s the view of my hotel Los Hielos. It’s actually the selling point of the hotel, but honestly it wasn’t necessary since the service and hospitality was very excellent.

Lago Argentino is indeed beautiful. It was a coincidence that the town was celebrating the day it was found when I stayed in the hotel too. They said famous singers had a concert —not that I know any of them.

The lake in many ways centers El Calafate which arose on its eastern side. The dry sparse vegetation one side , the towering peaks of the snow capped Patagonia Ice Fields to the West. Near the city side is a large walk around path which many bird species are visible especially so in early part of morning.

We stayed 3 nights in El Calafate and visited Argentina’s Los Glaciers National Park. There were many views of this vast lake with its great mountains on the west end. We then took a bus to El Chalten and drove the entire south shore and around the east end. It appears to be chilly and very windy much of the time. As cold and windy as it was, it attracted parasails that waved at high speeds across the lake.
