We are usually not big fans of group tours, but this was fantastic!! We got there early enough to get a seat on the top of the boat (hightly recommended) and had absolutely spectacular views for the entire ride up the lake. There were plenty of opportunities for photos and coffee and a snack during the trip. Once at the top of the lake, you can hang and hike, or pay for a second ferry up to another part of the lake. Some have mentioned the cost, and yes, seemed a little like it should have been included, but....we're on vacation, how else would we have seen the second half?? Again the views were spectacular. After leaving the Puerto, there is a quick trip to a second dock which allows for a short hike up to some amazing falls and a lake. The views are spectacular and well worth it. Have your camera ready on the way back because the boat literally pulls right up to some huge waterfalls for photo opportunities. Highly recommend!

This all-day adventure was amazing! The boat rides are an incredible way to see all the views and the hike up to the Cascada (waterfall) de los Cantaros is a good one. We did the hike along the lake from Puerto Blest to the waterfall (about a 45 min walk/hike with gorgeous views) and then up to the waterfall. The trip up to the waterfall is on wooden walkways with LOTS of steps. Not easy, but if you take you time totally do-able if you are in ok physical shape (i.e. you don't need to be an athlete). LOVED this!

We were advised to go to the port at 9 am, however, boarding did not start until 10 am. As we were staying at Llao Llao our walk to the Puerto Pañuelo was brief (about 10 minutes), so we were one of the first to arrive. We paid our tickets for entry to the national park for this tour and the next day as we had another tour booked.

The boat out to Blest Port was a little busy, as it also had people on the tour to Chile. However, there were plenty of seats available. The announcements were in both Spanish and English, and after about an hour on Lake Nahuel Huapi we arrived at Puerto Blest. When you arrive you immediately see the hotel on the island which is a central point for the tours; there were many walking routes; however, we had booked the optional tour of Lake Frias. We had lunch in the hotel’s restaurant and found it to be really good quality and reasonably priced.

Unfortunately, we had misunderstood and began rushing to Lake Frias, believing we had to be there at 12:30. The walk was about 3km, and we arrived at 12:40, however luckily the actual instructions were to meet behind the hotel to take a bus to Lake Frias. Once everyone had arrived, we boarded a smaller boat and went to onto the lake. After a 15-minute boat ride, we were taken to a port, where there were a few buildings, including a replica of Che Guevarra’s motorcycle, the one he used to cross the Andes. After 30 minutes on at the port, we left on the 15-minute journey back. Cruising on Lake Frias was stunning, the light green waters and rock formations are stunning, so definitely one for nature lovers and those looking for stunning photographs.
We made our way back to Puerto Blest, and after 30 minutes the main boat departed to the falls. You are taken to another smaller dock (after 20 minutes) and are warned that there is a 200-meter walk. The walk was all uphill, but on wooden walkways, it was somewhat gruelling; however, the waterfalls were not as impressive as I had hoped. I have been to other waterfalls in the past, and this one would be classified as a small waterfall. After the uphill walk, we made our way back to the boat and then back to Puerto Pañuelo (50 minutes).
Observations – The staff on the boat are really helpful and friendly. The boat on the way out was busy, however, quietens down throughout the day. There are not too many signs, so when walking to Lagos Frias, we had no idea how much further we had to go.
Overall a really enjoyable day with some great scenery.

With some friends, we booked a one-way trip departing from Puerto Frías to Puerto Pañuelo. This is half of the tour that Turisur usually offers. We were trekking and arrived there by foot from Paso de las Nubes (mountain refugee). As I said, although that was half of the tour, the price was almost same as the complete one. When we booked the tickets, we were told that if we weren´t at Puerto Frías al 4.30pm the boat will depart anyway. We stayed there one hour before.
Let´s say that we walked 5 hours without break just to stay on time at the port.
Near 4.30pm a boat arrived so we prepared us to board. However, a Turisur employee told us that we weren´t allowed to board yet, we would have to wait for the last one (two hours later). When we asked explanations, this guy said that an exclusive service had been booked and we would have to wait. It seems that some clients are specials and we were less important. After asking for someone else (the one in charge) to get an explanation, people referred as "exclusive passengers" asked that guy about allowing us to get on the boat.
We paid the service as all the rest and still don´t understand, why they offered us such manner. Turisur is the unique company offering that trip and it is inadmissible to behave like that.
When you arrive Puerto Blest, it is necessary to switch boat to return Puerto Pañuelo. Once there we were split, "exclusive passengers" took one boat (as the employee said, this is the boat for "normal people") while suitcases and abnormal ones (guess which one were we) will return in another.
I would like to finish saying that views are stunning and this review has nothing to do with the beautifulness of the environment.

We (2 couples) went in Bariloche in November and were told to reserve the Puerto Blest and Cascada de los Cantaros.
First part of the trip was quite good with nice boat ride and wonderful scenery. First stop was the cascada, and that was awesome, walking along and enjoying the scenery was very pleasant and fun. At that time, schedules were given to embark for the next stop.
Next stop is just in front of where we arrived, 3 minutes of boat... When you arrive there, you have one restaurant, and that's it, but you have to wait for more than one hour. And that part of the trip was the beginning of the worst we had in Bariloche.
After being dispatched in several buses, we made a small bus trip until another lake port, where we had to wait again for our boat to arrive and for people to disembark. Surprisingly, many people who were stepping out were full of luggages.
We then make a short trip on this beautiful lake, until Puerto Frias and we were asked to leave the boat and visit the surroundings. There is absolutely nothing to see there, except what we see form the boat, but we understood why. People coming from Chile I suppose began to embark with loads of luggage, so it is more a shuttle boat then a tourist ride on the lake.
We really had the sensation that we paid more just to give them more money for a transport boat.
There was so much luggage, that it was completely full of those in the boat.
On our way back, again, we had to wait for our boat, but this time with our new passengers.
If we knew that it was like a normal transport, we surely wouldn't have done the excursion this way !
Very disappointed as the price was quite high !

Travelling from Bariloche to Petrohué and Puerto Varas, this is an amazing journey, highly recommended way to travel from Argentina to Chile. We were a party of 4 sixty-year-olds. There are 3 legs to the journey.

Travelling from Bariloche we stayed at the Hosteria Katy (also recommended), which is close to Puerto Panuelo (just by Llao Llao), about 25km west of Bariloche, from where the catamaran ferry for Chile departs at 10am each day.

1st ferry leg to Puerto Blest takes about 1.5 hours. A 4WD bus then takes those passengers making the crossing to Chile, 10 mins through the jungle to Puerto Alegre, where a 2nd smaller ferry awaits to take you on a short 15 minute crossing of another lake to Puerto Frias where Argentina customs/immigration are cleared. (Travellers making the journey in the reverse direction cross-over here.)

A further 2 hour 4WD bus journey over the remote rain forest track used by Che Guevara, over the border. Chilean Customs/Immigration are cleared on reaching Peulla, where you can also have a late lunch in one of the two hotels, before the 3rd ferry from Peulla to Petrohué, taking about 2 hours. A coach then takes you by road to Puerto Varas, a journey of about 2 hours which includes a stop at the Petrohue River Waterfalls, arriving Puerto Varas 8-9pm. osts US$325 per person, but organisation is good, little waiting around and luggage is checked-in at departure and (other than for customs), is not seen again until arrival at Petrohue.

(It is also possible to do the journey by taking a bike on the ferry and then cycling between ferries, but speak to the tour operator. If doing this, I suggest travelling from Argentina to Chile, rather than the other way, unless you are a masochistic and serious mountain biker, wanting to face the very long, steep climb from Petrohue over the Andes to Argentina!)

My wife and I recently did the Turistur tour. It was excellent. We have seen some beautiful fijords in New Zealand, Alaska, China, etc. and this one rivals all of the ones that we have seen. The ferry boat was very comfortable and the staff does and excellent job. Overall, we highly recommend this tour.

Took this tour on a rainy day so couldn’t see much of the lake. Waterfall walk was the highlight. Beautiful rainforest. If you go, be aware that 1) Turisur guides provide almost no commentary. They are just there to get you from one place to the next. 2) Their English is minimal. 3) You are visiting a rainforest so could well rain!

We took the Turisur tour, which includes the bus from Bariloche to Puerto Pañuelo for a plus, picking you up from your hotel/ apartment if you want, boat trip to Puerto Blest, a second boat tour in the Lake Frías (optional, another plus, not so small, they take you with a bus to Lake Frías, and you make a round trip to the other extreme of the lake and back), and at the end the boat cross you to Casacada de los Cántaros, right in front of Puerto Blest, where you can climb the stairs (many steps, but very good, wide, plain steps) to see the falls, and then back to Puerto Pañuelo. It is a whole day tour (from 9 am to 7pm or so) and the views are really nice, specially the different colours of the Nahuel Huapi lake, the river Frías and the Lake Frías (where you can also see the Tronador Hill from the boat, snowy even in plain summer). You can have lunch at the Puerto Blest Hotel restaurant, or if you take your own lunch as we did (you can also buy only your drinks at the hotel), in lovely tables at with the view of the lake, but... don't forget your insects repellent! The horseflies can be very annoying, although they din't bite us. The climb to Cascada de los Cántaros is long, but quite easy, unless you have some health problem, but even if you can't reach the top of the stairs there are some points of interest as the "alerce milenario", an old larch tree, very impressive, and some balconies to look at the fall. Although it's a bit expensive, I recommend this tour, it worths the money. I have to say that we have got an splendid sunshine day, but the tour guide said to us that it was unusual, it is very probably to have rain in Puerto Blest.
