wonderful landscape with black Icebergs that have been working hard in changing the environment of Andes mountains. Colour of the icebergs and the lake of this mountain during the sunlight gives a uniqueness to this wonder of Nature. Walking from pampa Linda gives you more time to enjoy the snow capped mountains and will definitely be a memory of once in a lifetime chance.

It is a rough ride up to this point, very rough but well worthit, you can hear the glasure when you are at this stop.

The trip up to Ventisquero Negro (Black Glacier) and Cerro Tronador (Thunder Mountain) was a rocky road, especially when driving a small rental car. But it was still very beautiful and fun (but bone cracking). The glacier is a lot smaller than it used to be but still beautiful and worth the trip. Since we were there at the beginning of Spring, there were also many landslides at the very top of the mountain which gave us an additional sight to watch.
But make sure you go the rest of the road from the glacier to the base of the mountain where they have a great little cafe. Since it was the middle of the day we ended up eating french fries and chocolate cake! It's a vacation!
All in all, one of the highlights of the trip to Padagonia and Bariloche

Took our car on the long (2 hour), bumpy drive up the dirt track to Pampa Linda where we camped for a night. Then did the 8km walk (you can drive) up to Ventisquero Negro.

Well worth the visit - a black glacier nestled under the towering peaks of Mount Tronador (+3000m) with a stunning blue glacial lake below.

Awe inspiring.

Note: The drive into the park can only be made at certain times as the road is only one-way. Check before you travel. There are also tours that take you via minibus from Bariloche if you don’t have a car.

As part of the Cerro tronador tour, this is the mainstone of the tour.
Even you can only be there for 30 min because it is so cold, it is one of the landscapes that you shoul visit.
I love it

Epic. Way better than expected! For a small window of time, we had the place to ourselves in November which was a real treat.

Make sure you also drive round to the base del Cerro Tronador (follows signs from the glacier car park) and walk for 15 minutes on from that car park to see the ‘Throat of the devil’

Be aware, you are only allowed to enter the national park during certain hours - I think it was 11am to 2pm - then you can only leave between certain hours. Check times and take pesos for entry. We made that mistake and had to come back the next day

The black glacier is beautiful. You are allowed to view it from a significant distance. You are allowed to drive to the black glacier between 11 and 14 and are allowed to drive back between 16 and 1830.
