Sadly a lot of wasted potential. We did this tour on April 15th 2017 and in contrast to older reviews, the train does not start anymore in Salta. Instead we got two four hour long bus tours to San Antonio de los Cobres and back with a short train ride in between. During the bus tour you can see little... More

Too much time on a bus for What you get. A waste of a day. The service was good but found the trip anticlimactic

If you are a train fan don't miss it. If you are into spending a nice day and seeing spectacular views, you're better off making the trip by car or bus. Why? The train leaves Salta at dawn 6 a.m. and returns at about 11 p.m. Also, the train can sometimes derail, mechanical difficulties, etc.If you do it by car... More

We booked the tour in February 2017. we traveled 4 hours by bus, 3 by train and again 4 by bus. We were in Tilcara before and the landscape was not new for me. They did stopps every hour and the views were'nt so exiting everywhere. Overall I would'nt book this tour again, it is not worth the money you... More

If you are considering going on the tour with tren a las nubes and you are a real railway enthusiast then do it! In case you are not, continue reading or book other tours out of Salta. I did the tour in January 2017 and I am a big railway fan and have to say it was ok. Ok, but... More

It's an early start leaving at 7am from the train station. The day we went it all seemed a little chaotic as they weren't sure if it would go due to heavy overnight rains and landslides on the road there but we were only delayed by 20 mins. It did seem a little disorganised for English only speakers. There were... More

This is one of those trips that you would kick yourself if you didn't do while in the Salta area. However on my experience today some small changes would make a great difference. It's not a cheap day out at AR1700 and at 13 and a half hours it's an endurance test as well. 7am start. The aim is to... More

Because of problems with the line and bridges, the area travelled by train is now very short. However, this was still an amazing adventure - all of it. Well, except lunch - but that was in such an isolated place that one can hardly complain. I enjoyed the whole day and survived the altitude by using coca leaves, like the... More

We are a couple in our thirties and we realised on the bus that this tour is aimed at a different age group. 90% of the trip is on the bus and not on the train and you don't even get to walk a little bit. Every bus has a different colour and the organisation reminds of elementary school trips.... More

It was a great experience riding this train. Even when you only make the last part of the route . The first part was done in a bus that departs from the train station at 7:30 am and it was a fun ride. They take all kind of prevention due to the altitude. There goes a nurse and an ambulance...
