A bit anachronistic because it has a huge Russian style icon cross in a very Spanish colonial church! Still, very pretty and worth seeing!

The Iglesia San Francisco is beautiful inside and out and if you read up on the history or have a knowledgeable guide, you will learn that there is a patron Saint called Virgen de la dulce espera (pregnant virgin) who is worshipped by expecting mothers and a patron Saint (Roque) for dogs. They hold a mass for dogs every year.

The is the Franciscan church in center of Salta. A very beautiful church. Not really an attraction for kids. Easy access, and basically all you can expect from a church to be.

Very beautifully colored church with nice interiors and next door is the San Francisco Monastery. Nice inside. Tours available on site. Quick visit and worth the time if you are downtown Salta Currently undergoing renovations at the tower but does not affect the visit.

This is one of the better cathedrals I have visited in my trips world wide. You are allowed to take photos and it had a lot of visitors the day I was there.

One of Salta's icons. A must to visit, only one block away from the main plaza. Stunning colours, a place of silence for meditation and spirituality. Do not miss San Francisco.

Located close to the Basilica and in the city center of Salta, this cathedral is absolutely gorgeous. There´s also a museum with hourly tours, but I was unable to do that, even though I really wanted. There are several gift shops and santerías in the area for shopping. A must-see while in Salta.

We had the chance to join the Sunday mass and it was a great experience. The church is itself is really impressive and worth the visit.
