We spent 3 days with Adele and the llamas amongst the most colourful and wonderful countryside even getting the chance to see chinchillas in their natural habitat. The llamas each have their own personality and are definitely in charge of setting the pace! This added to the enjoyment and provided lots of laughs. The accommodation is basic which adds to... Me and a friend did the trek to Punta Corral with Caravana de Llamas, firstly the reception we had by Santos was great and our tour guide Adela was incredible. The accommodation is very basic but worth for the experience one has, incredible landscape and great hiking. The first day don't expect to hike in a good pace or fast... More

With 3 children (4, 8, 11 years) we made a 3 days trekking with Santos and Adela. For the smallest boy we had a donkey for riding and for the baggage 3 lamas. For all of us it was a wonderful experience. Hiking with the animals, moving in wonderful landscapes, visiting people, learning about their daily life, but in a... More

My son & I had a wonderful hike with Santos who is so unassuming - what a lovely man. He is very passionate about the environment, and particularly about his beloved llamas. A particular bonus for us was his English which was excellent - we speak almost no Spanish We were a little late getting to him but he was... More

We booked a late afternoon hike with Santos and his llamas and had an unforgettable time. We and two other guests were introduced by santos to our llamas - he is passionate about them and told us their individual life stories and then we set off for a couple of hours hiking gently around the outskirts of the village talking... Jose and our llamas stand out as one of the highlights of our trip. I honestly had no idea what this day would entail and it over delivered. The 4 hour trek, the beautiful scenery, interacting with the animals and learning how to hike the terrain were all new for us. I would not describe as as the "outdoorsy" type.... More

We went on a 2 day trek into the mountainous farming country with our guide Santos. We enjoyed his hospitality and that of Martinez and his wife. They are the "real deal" living a basic farming existence in country that we assumed was uninhibited. How wrong we were. It was a truly genuine experience. Not touristy at all. Totally enjoyable... We are not necessarily brave, my wife I is 64 and I am 69 and neither of us is terribly fit. This was a real workout at high altitude..a 4 hour trek up more than a thousand vertical feet (from an already high beginning) and down again with our guide Jose and two adorable llamas. Step by step we made... More

We did a 3-day trek to Punta Corral (a religious sanctuary at ~3900m). The landscape is superb, Juan our guide was super nice, the food was good. We would walk 5-6 hours per day with the lamas We had the chance to participate in the Pachamama ceremony with some locals. We really enjoyed our tour a lot.

After rainy Buenos Aires it was such a delight to arrive in warm and sunny Tilcara. My girlfriend and I did the hike to Garganta del Diablo with Santos. Our llamas were gentle and gorgeous and carried our layers of clothing as the day got warmer and warmer and we shed off our jackets and sweater. We had a wonderful... More
