With the zoo closed for "renovation" and the taxi departed I decided to hike up the switchback path to what is probably the best view in Mendoza. You go from an elevation of 2000 feet to 3000 feet on an exposed trail and on a hot day can be tiring. The monument at the top is impressive and there is... More

This wonderful monument sculpted by Juan Manuel Ferrari commemorates the centennial of the May Revolution, the first successful latin american independence attempt by General San Martín. It was sculpted in bronze and shows San Martin and his soldiers, a winged image of freedom and the Argentinian emblem, along with the people behind him who made this possible: townsmen and women... have viewed many statuses of historic interest/importance but have yet to see one that measures up in size, quality of workmanship and visual impact as this specific statute... now one must off course never include the Giza Pyramids..feared by time, man fears time. Having participated in 3 Worl Masters Games (running) it was wonderful to see the 'young' 80+man still... More

2017 is the bicentennial of the crossing of the Andes by General San Martin and the liberation of Chile and Argentina. Every thing relating to him is celebrated as is this monument at the top of amhill in the parc to the North of Mendoza.

If you want a nice walk it's about 2 miles from town. The monument is very detailed. We went when it was about 100 degrees out so it was a bit hot but worth the hike. I would say it's a good thing to do if your in shape to walk it. If not or if it's 100 degrees take... More

We walked from the entrance of the park and it was hot and miserable. I would take a taxi or a car. The monument was super cool. Allot of tourists.

Located in the northern part of Parque General San Martin, it's a nice activity if you've got 30 minutes to walk up to the top. You can drive, but it's a mild walk. Nice view of Mendoza. But not a must-see if you've got limited time in the city.

The monument at the top commemorates the Army of the Andes. There is a nice path leading up to the top from the zoo or you can drive. There are some good views of the Andes to the west. To the east the views of the city are blocked by trees. There are some views of the city from the... More
