Top ways to experience Rojo Tango
The area
Neighbourhood: Puerto Madero
From its refurbished red brick buildings and port cranes to its modern skyscrapers and luxurious apartment buildings, Puerto Madero is the perfect combination of old and new. The river provides a quiet, relaxing atmosphere that contrasts with the hustle and bustle of heavy traffic just blocks away. Across the river, flanked by skyscrapers, are beautiful parks and quiet streets that make this neighbourhood a unique destination in a city as busy as Buenos Aires. The restaurants, bars, and nightclubs on the docks make it a prime spot for nights out and have come to symbolise this area. Puerto Madero is even more striking after dark, when the lights from the docks and skyscrapers glow against the night sky.

Interesting Tango show. Not what I expected.
There are so many Tango shows to choose from....our friends had been to this show and highly recommended it. We booked the show only, no dinner. The dancers were amazing. The piano player was even more so. Our seat were near him and I found myself watching him just as much as the dancers. Not to ruin it for anyone but the sax player and the dancer that accompanied him was one of the best parts of the show. The singers, not so much.

    At the Faena Hotel
Any hotelier who has the insight to put heaven and hell in the hallway of a hotel and a Damien Hirsh Dinosaur in the backyard has me at hello. So, when I learned that Buenos Aires had a Faena Hotel with one of the best restaurants in town and a tango show I was in. Was it worth $350? Absolutely. It's in Puerto Madero and they offer hotel pick up and drop service with the ticket. I would have come for the unicorn head bar off the lobby and the dragon bathroom faucets alone had I known. The long hallway with the horsehair benches and red carpet were gorgeous as well. The amuse bouche was trout. They offered 2 wines of good quality (Malbec and Chardonnay) and a sparkling white. I had to stop them from pouring because I would have otherwise been on the floor by the time the performance was over. The octopus carpaccio was excellent, as was the lamb with sweet potato purée. I liked that everything was accompanied by a chip and a fragrant oil. The dessert was chocolate ganache with passionate fruit, strawberry, and crumbs. The red room added to the drama of what was a very entertaining and beautifully performed tango show. They gave me a lovely eco sparkling water to go.

Incredible tango, delicious food, a romantic evening, perfect!
Pure tango. We loved it. The dancers and musicians were all very talented! The food was amazing with the best lamb I have ever had. The wine glasses were never empty. It is a small intimate venue but I can expect that your experience will vary with your sight lines to the stage. We weren’t at the front but fortunately had a decent view. All in all a wonderful evening!

    Don't Miss.
A great evening. I was a little skeptical about going to this but it was recommended to me. I'm really glad I went. The show was amazing and the meal was very good as well. Often times I've found the meal at a show is just average at best. That is certainly not the case here. The food and service were great with a lot of people at the show. I would highly recommend taking in this show.

Very nice tango show. Dinner was OK. It was very expensive, although I don't have others to compare it to. We paid $US 600 including private transport to and from hotel

$480.00 USD for a profound disappointment. We arrived early but staff refused to let us take empty tables close to the stage and put us at the back of the room! If you are more than two tables back from the stage you will not see the foot work of performers - just dancers from the waist up. They cram the room with a large number of people / tables. This show was a terrible disappointment, a waste of time and money.

Dancers, costumes, and live band (with TWO accordion players!) were amazing! Service was great, food was meh (or slightly below meh) but unlimited wine. We all had a wonderful time. Definitely recommend!

Your experience will fully depend on whether you are the seated. The stage is not raised, so if you are not seated right in front of the stage (VIP tickets - dinner and a show), it is a complete waste of money. I was seated at table 11, at the very back (still paid the full $200), and all I could see were the torsos, which completely negates the entire point of going to a tango show. People in the back at some point started browsing their phones, some left laughing in disbelief by being brazenly taken advantage of.... I had to stand to see at least something...
The management is very much aware of the issue (see multiple reviews here mentioning it), and they don't care. They know you are in BA just for a bit so probably not going to fight too hard for your money.
The show is ok, but I've seen better in the States. However, considering the average prices in Argentina, the show is extremely overpriced for what it is. Probably the worst purchase of my entire trip. A very good lesson for me a first-time tourist in Argentina.

The transfers to and from Faena were included in the price and were simple and easy. Our reservation included dinner and the show. We arrived around 8:00pm and left around 11:45pm. The show started around 10:15pm. The room and tables were very dense, closely packed and the stage was small. At the hotel, we walked past two or three other rooms that were huge and not very cramped. There was attentive table service for wine and drinks. But .. The food was terrible. Like going to a wedding reception at a Holiday Inn. My main course was supposed to be gnocchi, but each piece was the size of a golf ball, of soggy undercooked potatoes sloshing in a cream sauce, sprinkled with some sliced mushrooms on top. It was inedible. When the server came to remove the plates, he did ask what was wrong and I explained the golf balls. He did offer to get me something else, but I was done. At the price point, they need to be a lot better. There was also no presence from a Matre d' that we saw.

The dancers were talented and the choreography interesting. We were 3 tables back and could not see any of the footwork which is the whole point of tango. The ceiling is very low, and when they were dancing on the bar the men had to crouch down or they would hit their heads.

I cannot compare this to any of the other Tango offerings, but your time would be better spent at one of the great restaurants in Buenos Aries.

When in Buenos Aires, attending a tango show is a must but how to choose? There are a wide variety of shows from big Las Vegas-style productions to small intimate caberet shows. After a lot of research I still couldn’t decide so ended up here at Rojo (red) Tango.

Having never attended a show of this sort before, I’ve no basis for establishing any sort of rating, but here are my impressions.

This show consists of around 6 pairs of dancers and two singers-one man and one woman. There’s a live 5-piece band consisting of an amazingly spirited pianist, a violinist, two men playing squeeze boxes and one standup bass). The show lasted around 100 minutes and is held in a low-ceiling space with a small stage raised a few inches above the floor. The place is bathed in Red light to reinforce the name. The show consists of around 20 or so musical pieces with different groups of couples expressing the dance. There were a ton of costume changes perhaps reflecting dance styles of different eras-from men in top hats to flapper outfits to 60’s go-go costumes to one dance that looked like a sexy version of Flashdance. There is a lot of athleticism throughout with spins, lifts and fancy footwork. Like all shows I researched, you can buy the show with dinner or without. We bought just the show ($220 per person or $190 in cash-us) and either choice comes with unlimited local wine, beer, tea or coffee, water and soft drinks.

The tables closest to the front are given to the people buying the dinner. We were at a cozy table for two near the band on a raised area but still only 30 feet from the stage. The challenge from most of the seats except the very front row is that you can really only see the top half of the dancers. As tango consists in part with lots of fancy foot work, I felt the theatre and sight lines were a negative. I probably wouldn’t recommend this theatre for that reason even though in many of the numbers the artists danced on the bar or moved around the cabaret space.

I’m glad we went to it and were I given a future chance would probably want to be in a higher-ceiling space with a stage much higher above the audience to really appreciate the artistic and technical qualities of the dance.

Unless you are front row you cannot see the dancers feet. Made worse by the fact rude people video all the show on their cameras blocking the views. From our seat at the back it was a sea of cameras and we only saw the tops of the dancers.

Why don’t they ban camera phones, so everyone can enjoy the show.!!

Food was poor. Hot food was cold. The desserts were barely edible. The place is cramped. All in al, a very expensive rip off experience. So many better tangos to visit in BA
