Neighbourhood: Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.

Properly the best known person from Argentina you cannot miss seeing her mausoleum. Free to get in and you don’t need a tour or a guide. Everyone will help you find it and there is an index at the entrance. Absolutely incredible place to go to. Like a small village and not crowded Note the family name to look for as you may miss the small plate name outside the mausoleum

If you are in Recoleta area, the cemetery is a must visit. It is as famous as the one in New Orleans. Evita is probably the most famous person outside Argentina buried there. Some 20-30 minutes are enough, unless you want a proper tour.

Tomb of Evita Peron is located in Recoleta cemetery. It is a family tomb hosting all members of her family, so her grave does not stand out. It is also quite unremarkable is comparison to the masterpieces that are found around in this cemetery. Nevertheless, the cemetery is an art gallery and Perons grave is a visiting point

Though im not an Argentinian, i read about a lot of things about Evita Peron and her advocacies. She did a lot of things for the nation. I travelled 36 hours from the Philippines and one of my bucket list is to see the Recoleta cemetery and specifically the tomb of Evita. I was really surprised because her tomb is so simple compared to other grandiose tombs there. But seeing her tomb is a fulfilling experience knowing that you visited one of the famous people in Argentina

I've been to Recoleta's Cemetery with my husband and I have to warn you: the place is beautiful. Full of statues, stone carvings and luxurious ornaments on tombstones and mausoleums. In a winter's sunny day this was a stunishing place, really rich and surprising. But with all the respect for the marvelous Evita, her tomb was never the best thing in this place. This cemetery is really impressive.

There is an interesting story which should be told about Eva Peron. She died in her early 30's and her socialistic philanthropy through her position of being the presidents wife made the people of Argentina love her but not so the high class or military generals who took over control of the country and in doing so shipped her body secretly over to an unmarked grave in Milano Italy where no one new the locality and so that the general masses of people could not worship or revere her. In the 1970's when general Peron returned to Argentina to lead the country again he had remarried in Spain and his new wife became Vice President When Juan Peron died she then became president and her one legacy of government was to extract the location of Eva Perons body from the military leaders and to bring it back to buenos aires and so it is she is now buried with her mother and sister in the family mausoleum
Walking here does make reflect on your own mortality and whether rich or poor famous or not we all end with the same fate

after we eventually found her tomb , tucked away in one maze corridors off the main streets,of all argentinas famous,( mostly presidents and generals reasponsible for all the murder and torture of many citizens of this fine country,) tombs
we found a small humlbe tomb wiht a few words inscribted on the wall , but nothing you would excpect for the first lady of argentina, when you see the beautiful tombs in this cemetery it makes you wonder why she wasnt remembered as grande as the rest of the famous thier, it definatly was not a lack of money,
but still its a must to see as one of the attractions of this fine city

We went to Recoleta cemetery after hearing all of Eva’s tragic history and we were quite excited to see her grave. It’s kind of hard to find but in the end we followed the crowds and found it easy that way as everyone always heads there.
It’s a little underwhelming, not sure what I expected. Anyway, make sure to visit other graves.

We visited this cemetery with a group. It was interesting to learn about this culture. Evita's tomb was very ornate. Our guide told us her story and her tragic ending.
