Shut out!!
Jan 2020
I was looking forward to see this museum only to arrive there and find a sign saying it is closed for repairs until some time in march. Some interesting cannons. etc behind the outside fence. A great excuse to return to BA in the near future!

Weapons and only them...
Jun 2019 • Couples
Room after room full guns. I would have preferred some more information on the Argentinian military history. The room telling the story of Malvinas / Falkland war is exception and was an interesting to see.

Fascinating museum half hidden away!

You´ll walk by this museum´s entrance without giving it a second glance. Big mistake. It has a great collection of weapons of all sort, lovely pieces, and is well maintained and dead cheap (Pesos 90 ~USD 2,2 per person) for what it showcases.

For the weapons passionates
Dec 2018 • Family
We were visiting in the area and decided to go for this specialized museum. Many time periods were represented and many many weapons were to be observed. A very interesting museum for the non passionates. A true jewel for the passionates.

MUSEO DE ARMAS DE LA NACION
Guns Museum

Located at Plaza San Martín, in the corner of Marcelo T. de Alvear and Maipú, 300 meters of Plaza Hotel.

There is a collection of swords and rapiers from Medieval times, from Europe and Far East (China and Japan), swords and spears used in Argentina during the campaigns and battles of XIX centuries. Some amazing Mausers and Remingtons rifles, the “must wear” in the Pampa´s Far West. LOL.
Follows a collection of infantry weapons plus some light weapons of mechanized infantry including antiaircraft artillery from the First World War, most of them from France.
An amazing collection of handguns including some very, but very small pistols.

All at ground floor with few steps and ladders and bathroom for handicapped.
I visit it when I have some spare hour and in the zone. Worth for military enthusiasts otherwise will be tedious as all descriptions are in Spanish and there are no guides.

The good, just for enthusiasts, is that in the area are many Military Clubs and Libraries where some books and memorabilia from the country can be found.

The bad is that there are no organized, nor information available for large armament collections visits.

If you like military arms, from medieval to modern, this is for you!!

I really like military related museums and I saved this museum for my last day in BA. I was fortunate to hear a military band playing at a wreath laying ceremony in the nearby park at the monument of San Martin before my visit. The museum is hosted in 18 rooms of the same building that also hosts the Palacio Paz next door and is filled to the gunnels with mostly military hand weapons. You have medieval armor, swords and pikes, to a room dedicated to Japanese Samurai and much more. They also managed to fit in some smaller artillery pieces and machine guns. Several nice Thompson Sub-machine guns are on display too! The largest display of pistols I have ever seen in one place. While the museum is not large by most standards, it will take an hour or so to browse all the varid displays.

A large variety of Military displays covering a wide range of topics and periods of History.
Dec 2017 • Couples
As a visitor to Buenos Aires our first day taxi ride took us to Plaza San Martin with its beautiful parks. Out taxi driver suggested seeing the Museo de Armas and being a military collector was pleased to find this gem in a large city. Even my wife found it worthwhile with a small admission fee. The displays covered a wide range of weapons, swords, cannon over a wide range of history. You could tell by the depth and size of collections that much time was invested into variety of items. A definite must for any military collector or history enthusiasts.
