Neighbourhood: Palermo
Best known as the largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favourite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.

Modern Latin American Art: social statements and objects exhibit
The top (2) floor is an objects exhibit with a collection of chairs, old fridges, and a mounted helicopter. The main floor (1) had a Frida Kahlo exhibit with her self- portraits A. Parrot andMonkey and B. With Diego and third eye. It had a lot of art regarding gender and sexuality. Some of which I found disturbing to be honest- such as a postcard with instructions on how to make love to animals, other women, boys, etc. The basement had a smaller exhibit of temporary collection. It was 1600 pesos for adults and 800 for students. They also had a cafe/ restaurant on the main level. The second floor has a QR code for an audio guide on SoundCloud.

    Great gallery
My ten year old and I really loved this museum and the introduction it gave us to Latin American art. The exhibition "From Heaven to Home' on everyday Argentian household items (artist interpretations) was really interesting. We appreciated one of the guides explaining some of the works to us. The permanent collection has some great pieces. We missed the Frida exhibit due to the long line unfortunately. Recommend buying tickets online and skipping the que to purchase. We spent about 1.5 hrs looking at everything.

Lovely museum of manageable size with outstanding permanent collection
We walked to MALBA from our hotel in Recoleta and bought an admission ticket same day. The museum is in a chic neighborhood of Buenos Aires with some beautiful homes, so we enjoyed the walk. The museum was great! We spent about 3 hours exploring its permanent collection and special exhibition. The museum’s design is lovely, and the museum is of a size that allows one to fully explore the collection without getting overwhelmed. The permanent collection featured many compelling paintings and sculptures from Latin American artists, and it gave me a new appreciation for how various contemporary art movements were expressed by artists from the region. The gallery was thoughtfully curated, and the English descriptions in the galleries were helpful for understanding the curation and context for the art. As is often true with art, exploring the art gave one a better sense of the region’s history and, in particular, of struggles faced by various populations. The special exhibition was also well-assembled and featured some quite humorous pop art. The gift shop had some really nice post cards. And the cafe, on the second floor, was a nice place to have a coffee and sweet treat as we transitioned from viewing the permanent collection to seeing the special exhibition. I’d definitely put this on your “must do” list for Buenos Aires if you enjoy art; we had a great visit, easily worth the price of admission.

Beautiful Modern Art Museum in Buenos Aires
Mostly modern art don the walls and floors of this beautiful art museum. When we were there, they had two Frida Kahlo's and that was a treat for us. Try the coffee shop on the SECOND floor instead of the busy one on ground floor, for incredible snacks and some of the best coffee we had in Argentina.

Great Museum. Interesting visit. I'll definitely come back.
Excellent Art Museum at the heart of the Palermo neighborhood in Buenos Aires. Very interesting collection of Latin American Art. The museum sits in an easily accessible area of the city surrounded by many other touristic attractions. The architecture of the building housing the museum is beautiful and organic with the collection. It is easy to visit and enjoy. It has a good museum store. Admission is inexpensive and the museum will provide a very good value for what it offers.

    Fantastic
We loved our visit to this museum. They have a great collection and it's varied. It was our first experience at a museum with a focus on Latin American art and they have so many beautiful items including the Frida Kahlo pieces. From what I've read they have changing exhibits and when we were here in February it was the Cecilia Vicuña exhibit. Very inexpensive admission. We were here about 90 minutes.

    Top 5 Sigma Museums
I like this place a lot. It is very cool and it made my family very happy when we visited. My son was being a bit of a pain though because he said it was boring but that is not what the museum is for. It is very good for an adult trip or something to slow down your trip. It is a great experience and it is something you should look into if you're interested in the arts of different places across the globe.

Absolutely great exhibition of modern/contemporary art from Latin and South America.
Very well curated and displayed.
A selection of work that can be beautiful, provocative, challenging and/or political. Some of the works are as relevant today, especially to Argentina, as they were when first produced last century.
I loved it.

This is a small museum with a decent rotating collection. We were excited for a Frida Kahlo exhibit but a little disappinted that there were only 2 pieces in the exhibit. There is a lovely and comfortable solarium on the 2nd floor that was a pleasant place for an afternoon break and cold beverage. If you're in the area, it's worth checking out. I wouldn't make a special trip to go to it.
