A tango dancehall for locals. Opens 11 p.m. and looks like it could continue till dawn. Very few tourists, but welcoming. Fascinating observation of social mores. Recorded music on the night we were there. Drinks and snacks available - wine-by-the-glass pretty mediocre! Otherwise, highly recommended.

You should really try a Milongo there; de rigueur as we say (a 'must'!) to complete your tango experience in BA.

This is not tango with glitz and glamor. This is the real thing for locals- aging from 40 to 80. You can just as easily see a 38 year old woman dancing with a 73 year old man as with a 40 year old. It is not a meat market. This is an inexpensive location for a night for tourists... More

This is where Buenos Aires residents go to dance - without tourists. It's the real deal and a must do. Men and women enjoying themselves and the glorious tango.

When we compared the idea of amateurs dancing at the milongas to the cost of the tango dinner shows, we thought we'd take a chance. Boy were we right. What a neat experience to see 20 couples taking "advanced" lessons followed by live tango. It was outstanding. Front row seats. Cheap but simple bar. We made the right choice to... More

Nice place, air conditioned, great monthly program with live music concerts, tango performances, classes and lots and lots of dancing. Mix of locals and visitors, it's one of the weekly milonga visits, perhaps twice or three times a week.

We didn't and can't dance! Just went to watch how the locals do it and soak up the atmosphere of a relatively local, authentic milonga. It was a great experience and we're so glad we did this rather than an expensive touristy show. It was quite hard to find and the service is poor but we got a table at... More

Had an awesome experience and learned lots from the super patient, kind and professional teachers at Salon Canning. I also got to dance with many pretty ladies. My lesson only cost 90 Pesos! Muchas Gracias Salon Canning!

We went there on the recommendation of an Argentinian friend and were not disappointed. The tango lesson was taught by a man and a woman who were very into technique ("walk with intention" was the continual theme from the man, who we dubbed Mr. Miyagi). We loved it. The live band was good (and was apparently famous), and we lucked... More

Staying in Palermo

Neighbourhood Profile
Palermo
Best known as the largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favourite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.
