Plaza San Martin is one of the most peaceful places in Buenos Aires. Half of it is situated on a little hill which gives a lovely view on top of everything else. Perfect place to relax and read a book.

What a sweet little park in the middle of a very busy cosmopolitan city. Plenty of places to rest ones feet after all your walking. There is a dog park with agility equipment but unfortunately there were no dogs there when we visited. Don't be swayed by the stairs, it's worth it when you get to the top.

You will walk a lot if you are a budge traveler. I traveled Buenos Aires during the summer so I sweated a lot and got tired very easily. This was one of the parks that I took a time to rest and refreshed myself. Good place to lie down and sip some juice.

Plaza San Martin is one of those centrally located parks in Buenos Aires that I think most people aught to swing through during the explorations of the city. My wife and I visited here one late morning in November, found ourselves a park bench, and spent well over an hour people watching and soaking up the atmosphere. I think this... More

Located at the upend of the Florida street, this square is popular among locals for picnics and outdoor activities.

A nice way to get away from the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, very close to Calle Florida, the shopping area. The statue to San Martin is quite impressive and worth a quick look and photo

We were very surprised when arriving to Buenos Aires how many nice park there is. This is one of these park. There are two major monuments in this park and both are nice but nothing phenomenal. The best thing in this park is the very large tree in the Florida end of the park. Here it is perfekt for a... More

It's a nice getaway after a long of day of walking. It really is just a park and nothing spectacular, so don't go out of you way to visit it.

Very nice park to relax and take in several sights. There were many people taking naps and enjoying a sunny day. You can visit the clock tower, Malvinas memorial, and the Kavanagh building.

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
