La Viruta has good classes which cater for all standards of dancers and keep the tempo going with good humour and tolerance. The dance floor is extremely good (as good as Canning in my opinion) and the dancers are respectful and well-mannered. The service is...More

Imagine 300 people dancing at the same time on 5 different levels of either tango, rock n roll, salsa, bachata or swing at the same time, while football is on television in the bar at the end of this huge room. There is just nothing...More

It's not a very glamorous place. It's just a basement, food is horrible and you not gonna get a good cocktail (stick to beer and wine - also, it's cash only). But it's true that's this is where "average people" come to dance and learn...More

There are classes for all levels and not just tango, but salsa (rueda/casino), bachata and rock. Check their website for the classes schedule. You pay just once and can take all the classes of that day and stay for the milonga.

This is a real dance lesson. It is not a show, it is more authentic and real, full of locals and few tourists. You can enjoy not only trying to learn some of the complex dacing steps for tango and milongas but also a vibrant...More

If tango is a typical attraction of Argentina, La Viruta is the place where you can enjoy it. If you don't dance tango, you can sit and watch the dancers while enjoying a drink. Or, you can take a group lesson from teachers who are...More

That's how it's explained by locals (both tangueras and others) wrt being more relaxed as a milongo destination. One of my tango friends started out there wrt lessons; one doesn't feel so intimidated as everyone is more relaxed, wearing all kinds of different clothes to...More

This place was very nice to visit and take some classes or just watch. After midnight is FREE entrance but it's not advertised a lot about that . The service was good and the place was clean and safe.

No need to book, however we did email ahead to check on timings of classes. You pay on the door - very cheap from memory!

I think you can dance with whoever you want as long as you tell your teacher that you don't want to swap the partners . It's common that everyone circulate and swaps parents during the practice .
