We used the Sturla boat service and it was well done, leaving the port area and two hours later landing at Tigre. Along the way you'll see aspects of Buenos Aires not really visible from an interior city tour. The river is so wide as to be a huge lake, but the ride will take you into side rivers where you can see summer homes of those who love the water and have learned to appreciate it and play in it.
This is a trip into the delta and will round out a casual visit to the city. If you can, spend time in Tigre as well.
A recommendation is to sit on the left side as you leave the harbor as you can see the new port best from that vantage point.

It is an impressive body of water formed by the Paraná and Uruguay rivers that merge here. Water were brown when we visited and do not give motivation for a cruise. There is a Fisherman club that is the only nice building we spotted, not far from the university center

Buenos Aires sits on part of the river that is so big, Montevideo is considered on the other side. Our cruise ship was docked on the Plata River where there is an considerable commercial port.

The big muddy river that flows through this region. The city is at its mouth. Not especially pretty but an important artery for the region.
