My husband and I had an amazing time on the Original Asado Food Tour led by Frank, the owner, this weekend. Not only did we have an immersive and fun experience in preparing the ingredients and the grill, Frank also took us meat shopping and wine tasting for the asado in his beautiful neighbourhood of Palermo Viejo while giving us a history of the area and his personal journey at the same time.

The best part of the tour was, of course, enjoying the different meats from the asado and the wonderfully fresh vegetables Frank and his team put together for us in the lovely courtyard of his home. The selection of local wine and spirit over the course of the meal could easily be eclipsed by the maté experience at the end.

Frank was fantastic in bringing everyone in our small group of 5 together and we truly enjoyed the company. The other 3 members of the tour were actually Argentines so we learnt so much about the food, culture, people and history of the country from them and Frank.

I could not think of a better way to experience asado other than being in someone’s home and Frank shared with us this experience.

Bonus - There is so much to do and see in Palermo Viejo. The young, vibrant and family friendly neighbourhood is packed with restaurants, bars, and boutiques.

This is a wonderful tour and a great activity for the whole family. When you arrive you are greeted by Frank your host in his lovely home. You begin by helping to build the fire that will later cook your meal, and then make condiments.

Then Frank takes you on a tour of the neighbourhood with a focus on street art and the evolution of the area. Along the way you’re treated to a wine tasting and make a stop at the butcher’s.

When you arrive back you feast on sweetbreads, cheese, blood pudding and of course steak. The grill master’s foods are outstanding! His assistant is a darling.

Don’t miss chance to meet Frank and his team and experience a wonderful family Asado.

I am so glad that you enjoyed the asado with us! I love hosting people in my private home and showing them everything we know about throwing an asado. I am so glad that you enjoyed helping me out in building the fire, and preparing the condiments. The neighborhood tour is also fun looking at and learning about the neighborhood street art, and neighborhood history, then topped off with a wine tasting before we head back to the house to continue the adventure. Thank you for booking this tour with us!

We thought the Food Tour in Palmero was so much fun! Our guide, Cristina, was fantastic. As we walked through the neighborhood she pointed out so many interesting things, including art murals, parks and memorials. We learned a lot. And the food was so delicious and a very good sampling of Argentinian Food. We needed to store our luggage prior to the tour and Frank , the owner of the company, went out of his way to pick us up and drive us to the tour starting point. That was above and beyond. From and Cristina were such nice people. We highly recommend this tour when you visit Buenos Aires!

Hi Debbie, I am so happy that you enjoyed your tour with Cristina. I was originally going to walk you over to the tour starting point, but I started running late myself so I drove you instead. I am so glad that it worked out and you were able to take advantage of the short amount of time you were spending in the city. We feel honored that you chose to spend it with us. Thank you so much for booking this tour with us and for taking the time to leave a nice review.

Everything was perfect. The house, the host, the group. Lots of mini stories about the asado experience. Recipes. Hands-on cooking. We went shopping around the neighborhood. We then enjoyed an asado almuerzo complete with picada. Yummy food, friendly staff. A beautiful way to spend our Saturday.

Thank you for the very kind words. We also enjoyed spending the day with you, chatting over drinks and food, and showing you how to make your own chimichurri, cut mangos, and, most importantly, cure hysteria! ;-)

This was my favorite activity we did in BA! Felt like such an organic, non-touristy experience. We were welcomed into Franky's super cool home in Palermo (awesome neighborhood!) where he sat with us for a bit and explained how we would spend the day. We learned about his background and then began some prep for the meal we would be having later. He led us around his neighborhood, explained the impressive street art, shared some history about Argentina and BA, and then took us to his local market to pick out the meat for the asado. We also went to a wine shop and had a glass of Malbec and learned about the wine industry in Argentina. Then we headed back to his house to enjoy the food in his courtyard! The grillmaster cooked up some incredible meat, and we got to try interesting food that I hadn't eaten before. We also enjoyed fernet and coca-cola, two kinds of wine, and we learned about (and drank) mate. Frank is informative, helpful, and fun, and this just felt like such a personal experience, to be invited into someone's home and see how the locals live. My advice...book it!!

I had a great time hosting you in my home and I'm so glad that you felt like it was non-touristy, that is exactly what I always try to make everyone feel like. I want everyone to feel like they are just visiting a friend and hopefully learning about a new culture over some great food and wine. Thank you for spending the day with me!

A really great food tour in Buenos Aires, with friends from England and a couple from Toronto. Frank looked after us for a out 7 hours, stating with breakfast at a local cafe. We then walked round the Botanical Gardens while Frank gave us a fascinating history lesson. We saw a lot of great Street Art before, and after lunch in a small local restaurant. We started with Blood Sausage, served in Frank's special way, followed by lovely steak and red wine.
Microbreweries were the next two stops, tasting local and international beers. All went down very well on another hot day.
We finally ended up at an ice cream shop where they make it all on the premises. This was called Antiche, where the proud and passionate owner and staff took the trouble of showing us how it was all made, letting us taste fresh ice cream. Frank also bought us all some more inside the beautiful shop.
A very special day for all of us, and Frank captured some great photographs, which he has sent out to us.
I would certainly recommend this, or any of Frank's tours.

Frank was an amazing, welcoming and knowledgeable host. First, we were welcomed into Frank's home(beautiful kitchen/living space and courtyard garden) - where we prepared chimichurri sauce and roasted pecans and learned a bit about Frank's journey to Buenos Aries! Then we were off to walk the streets of the Palermo Viejo neighborhood - learning all about it's rich history and street art. Frank is very knowledgeable about his neighborhood and is a good story-teller. Then it was to the market and the wine store to gather the items for the Asada back at the house. The meal was delicious and Frank continued to tell us about Buenos Aries culture and traditions. We had Fernet and Coke (a very popular drink...I think it is an acquired taste!!) and shared Mate. Franks took pictures of us on the walking tour with the street art and e-mailed the link to us, along with the recipes for the dishes we had for lunch. It was a perfect afternoon!

We had a great day - lots to eat and an opportunity to explore the Palermo district. The tour is well planned and we enjoyed the walks between the various stops. I certainly understood more about the food and lifestyle in Buenos Aires after the tour. The photographs that Delphi took (better than mine) are placed on a link and are the perfect reminder of a great day.Highly recommended.

I was traveling with a work group and we spent our only day off with Frank and his AsadoAdventure team. We had a great time exploring Palermo with Frank. As advertised, we were able to shop for our wine, meat and bread all while learning about the neighborhood. Preparing the accompaniments, like the salad and chimichurri, was a lot of fun and a part of our trip to Buenos Aires we could take home with us.
The asado was excellent as were the other elements of our meal. Frank was a lot of fun and certainly knowledgeable of the food, the customs and the stories of Palermo. Overall a great experience and the highlight of our trip to Buenos Aires. Highly recommended.

Let's start with Frank, a personable, knowledgable and welcoming host who made our day extremely memorable. Not only was the Palermo tour filled with history and insights, but it was so much fun to go shopping at a local market for food we were going to eat as well as visiting a restaurant for a wine tasting where we bought wine for our meal. In his lovely home, we all chipped in as we learned how to prepare the grill, made the chimichurri sauce, created a delicious salad with toasted pecans and indulged in a delicious meal prepared by an amazing grillmaster. I can't emphasize enough that this is truly an experience that is not to be missed while visiting this amazing city. And Frank creates a photo album of treasured memories that he sends to you within a day and offers recipes for the delicious treats you indulged in.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm so glad that you enjoyed being part of preparing an asado and learning how to go about organizing one. I really loved how the chimichurri turned out and I really enjoyed hanging out with you guys, eating, drinking, and just having a good time. You are welcomed back anytime!
