Super wine tasting as part of a wine tour day trip. Good service and surroundings with biltong matched with the red wines

We were at dinner in Cape Town and they served Marianne wines throughout the evening and we loved them, particularly their pilotage. So as we were going to Franschhoek we thought we’d go and visit.

Lovely location and very informative wine tasting host.

Would love to have bought more than 2 bottles but restricted for weight on next flight.

Well worth a visit.

Marianne Wine Estate was beautiful. We had a villa for our women’s Zebra Adventures group. Beautiful private pool and large space to gather. They served a nice breakfast with fresh fruit and choice of warm breakfast. Beautiful views to enjoy with the large windows and doors for open air concept!

This wine estate was absolutely breathtaking so beautiful. The property was well kept and appeared as if it was used for a movie. The vineyard made you want to take a walk and sample the grapes. Having never visited a wine estate before made Marianne even more exciting. Our group (Zebraadventures) had a tight daily schedule, however, after checking into their guesthouse I didn’t want to leave.

Beautifull buildings decor and landscape, the well kept property is clean, relevant and absolutely a superbe spot for wine tasting. The wines we tasted were paired with wild jerky style meat - stunning and impressive - sooo good...

We were due to stay at the Marianne for 2 nights as part of our tour of SA. I had booked the rip over a year ago and had asked to be accommodated in the villa. Having the Floreal on site to go to eat was also important as the place is a bit remote and we didn’t want to drive for dinner.
As I had booked so long ago I emailed in February to confirm and Cisca the manager e mailed me to confirm all was in order. When we arrived she then advised that the villa had been closed to guests and that the Floreal was also closed. Two other rooms had been made available to us. Whilst these rooms were ok they were not what we had booked. Cisca suggested that we could sit on the terrace of one for drinks in the evening. This terrace consisted of a tiny square patio and a barred window looking out onto a patch of weeds. Not majestic view of the vineyards to be had. We were obviously disappointed yes and decided to find somewhere else to stay. Cisca promised that she would send me a form to process a refund for our deposit as she understood that what we had booked was not available. To date no form has been forthcoming despite several emails being sent to remind her
An extremely disappointing experience

This is an unassuming yet hugely rewarding spot to park your car! The eyes struggle to "find" the exceptional right until you step onto the verandah! Then the expanse of rolling hills, vinyards and orchards allow your eyes a feast. Service may be staccato and the platter comparatively simple, but the ordinary ends right there. The wines are just indescribably good, the Sauvignon Blanc took my breath away, and I am no novice, despite no expert at white wines. The tasting moved to the reds, more my thing... Holy cow, extraordinary wine. I am 63 and a single malt junkie, hoping my palate is fairly educated. I was close to tears at the end, emotional about how awesome ALL the reds are. Shiraz, Pinot, Merlot (2008, I don't normally drink Merlot) even, astonishing. The top blend, I already forget it's name, simply beggar's belief. Rounded, rich, complex, fruity, spicy... not possible? Wrong. Don't go there to be spoilt by grandiose surroundings and fancy dressed help, don't go there for the best platter. Go there for the right reason, the best wine you will taste in a very long time!

Most disappointing and pitiful experience ever. Don't ever plan and confirm your event with them, you will show up on the day and NOTHING would be arranged. 10/10 would not recommend!!!

Tried to visit Marianne Tasting room today. Staff were unfriendly. We waited to be seated and were blatantly ignored. We hovered around the entrance- unlike other tasting rooms, no temperature check done... we waited, then waited at the shop... then walked to the bar... all the while staff were talking to each other. Eventually we decided to leave- they watched us walk out. It was an exceptional experience because most of the other wine estates we've visit have always been really welcoming and service is generally of the high standard. I wouldn't recommend.
