Nice enough but not a patch on Franschhoek. Nice cafes. Went on a Sunday. Interesting market stalls. Quite a large university town

Beautiful place, definitely worth the visit. We had lunch in the city center and in the afternoon visited a couple of wineries.

We enjoyed a stroll down this historic street, with its grand buildings, smart cafes & restaurants.
Look out for interesting street art too.

We walked almost the whole street. Lovely. Just had a small issue with a poor homeless gent but loved the walk, and Oom Samie se winkel too.

I really enjoyed wondering around this area. It’s very clean and orderly. I felt totally safe, despite the numerous warnings from hotel staff about not walking around alone.

Dorp street not only hosts some of the most unqite eateries in Stellenbosch, but there are so many forms of art placed all along the sidewalks and next to buildings.

This oak-lined street in Stellenbosch represents the densest historical development in South Africa. Most of the buildings were built in the XIX century, including the old Lutheran church Moederkerk of 1851. They are concentrated in the western part of the street.in the east, modern buildings prevail. The street is naturally used for commercial purposes. There are many cafes and restaurants here. Meat eaters will be interested in De Vleispaleis Steakhouse, Hudson's Burger Joint, Gino's will suit fans of Italian cuisine. Among the shops interesting for tourists is the souvenir shop and South African antiques Oom Siamese Winkel.

Great street to walk along, but certainly not the only one. Include Church and Bird, and the side streets for a truly "European" setting. Many café's and wine bars to visit between shopping.
