Though damaged through shortsighted tourism schemes in the 1960s, these caves are still worth a visit for their eerie dark tunnels and stunning limestone formations.

The Cango Caves is definately worth the visit. Awesome experience. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly and has a amazing voice. She surprised us with the South African anthem at the end of our tour which made us feel extra proud of our country. Amazing scenery & interesting history. The only negative feedback is that children should be controlled by their... More

We arrived and was told we had to book in advance. Well, this is not stated on their website. Maybe add a "book here" icon or even "did you book?" signs when you arrive?! #JustSaying Very knowledgeable guide and the scenery is average and not wow. But again, it's a natural wonder and not much more you can do to... More

We did the Adventure tour and it was a great trek through the caves. It is a little challenging at times but don't let it hold you back. If you ever can't go on there are are points you can stop at and the group circles back. But once you are there you just want to keep going. Well worth... More

A definite must see if you are planning a trip down the garden route or around oudtshoorn. Its amazing to see the natural formations that took place over the years. we did the adventure trail, it was lots of fun with little places to squeeze through etc. not for the claustrophobic or chubby person though.

If you haven't seen other similar limestone formations, it would probably be impressive but I have visited some caves which are more engagingly presented. They explained that visitors preferred natural lighting but my experience in other caves is that coloured lighting can be used to great effect to highlight specific features - it all becomes a bit anodyne when it's...
