Though damaged through shortsighted tourism schemes in the 1960s, these caves are still worth a visit for their eerie dark tunnels and stunning limestone formations.

My second visit to the Cango caves, but no less spectacular than 10 years ago. Excellent tour guide, knowledgeable, friendly and good fun. Caves are spectacular. Our small children were slightly bored and irritable but the tour guide incorporated them in a friendly way to keep them entertained. Must visit when in the area.

We had rebooked our visit and this was worth it as it avoided a probable a least one hour wait. The guide was excellent and really made the visit. The Caves themselves are very big but the formations are nothing spectacular if you have seen other Caves. There are two visits a one hour easy tour with some steps but... More

The best thing to do when visiting Oudtshoorn. Everything else involves ostriches! This is a well organised venue. You probably need a car to get there - it has its own road north of Oudtshoorn. The ticket system is good and the guide was great. Maybe the best gift shop we have seen in South Africa. The geological formations are... More

We enjoyed the informative and well paced guided tour. The more adventurous (and fit) can do an enhanced tour but don't do it if you're claustrophobic. Parking is easy, the cafe is Ok for a snack and the place is a geological marvel.

This is a brilliant place to visit - amazing stalagmites and stalactites. We did the standard tour, which lasted about an hour. Admission charge was very reasonable and our guide, who spoke several languages, was fun and informative. Our group was fairly large, but there was no problem hearing the guide and seeing everything. We would definitely recommend the Cango... More

We went as a large grooup to the caves, some of us did the adventure route, while I and most of the group did the regular one hour tour. We all agreed that both were excellent. The guide gave us heaps of info on the caves, how they were formed, discovered, and the different formations within. One hour was pretty... More

I have never seen caves as big as the Cango Caves. Having visited a few in many years, this was another little trip to do whilst in South Africa. thoroughly gobsmacked at the size of each chamber. The guides were great, reducing the group as there were many which made it more difficult to get through the alloted time so... More

Easy to find with ample parking. The tour guide was excellent. The first chamber is huge on a scale that is difficult to comprehend, they used to have concerts for over 2000 people in it before vandalism put an end to it. The variations in rock formations are superb. It is obvious that they are doing all they can to... More
