The Knysna Lagoon is really spectacular with an abundance of wildlife to be seen on the sand banks when the tide goes out. Great place for a walk.

The Lagoon is lovely and how the water travels to the heads is picturesque.

We had to drive round around a few times and this view never got old. It was lovely just to sit back and enjoy the views from our hotel bar.

There are plenty of boats for hire if you wanted to travel on the lagoon.

I had a memorable day in a friends boat fishing on the Knysna Lagoons. Apart from the fact that we caught nothing bar a couple of small fish and a few small squid. The area is really beautiful and the wildlife is second to none. Thoroughly enjoyed my day out.

If you want to explore open water swimming that is still a little protected just go out for a swim in the lagoon. Contact Knysna Yacht Club to get details of the swimming club. The tides and wind makes for interesting experiences every time you go. Water is shallow on the side so even if you are not used to open water swimming you will be able to stand up close to shore and save yourself.

we spent a few days with family on the shores of leisure island right opposite the lagoon mouth by the heads.
was great to go for long walks on the beach during low tide and then paddling out to the heads when the tide was in. also nice to cycle along the quiet and not so busy streets. braaiing was a great way to spend the evenings with loved ones while preparing the evening meal.

Hidden private beaches for early morning walks. Beautiful scenery and such a tranquil place to be at.

The lagoon is the centrepoint of Knysna and as well as being a beautiful sight you canalso sail on the water on one of the many ferries that run.
