We stopped off on the way back from Milwood, but wish that it was earlier in the day as there is a forest walk that starts from the memorial and the 880 year old Outeniqua Yellowwood that towers 40m over the memorial. A tranquil and...More

A visit to this mystical forest and one can easily see what inspired Dalene Matthee's writings. A magestic 880+ year old yellow wood towers over the monument, nature at its very best. Pack a picnic and take the time to visit if in the area.

An interesting memorial at the base of a spectacular 900 year old Outeniqua yellowwood tree. This place has a spiritual quality and it is worth a visit to quietly contemplate the forest and Dalene Matthee's contribution to both its history and its preservation.

This is a must for nature-lovers and especially those that have a love for literature. The big tree is awesome and the shorter trails are beautiful. If you love walking through indigenous forests then this will be a great experience. However, if it has been...More

So many historical places of interest fall victim to vandalism so it was reassuring to see this beautifully set out and maintained memorial. I was forced to read Dalene Matthee’s Kringe in ‘n Bos as an Afrikaans setwork book in senior school. I have since...More
