A surprising find

Came across this in the way to Knysna Heads. Doesn't look like much from the street but it's worth a visit. We found items we'd never seen before and at half the price. There... read more

i visited this market in November and was horrified by the litter all around the place. Visitors and vendors alike had to step over the litter left by the stall holders in front of their stalls. No attempt was made to pick up this filth - even when I pointed it out. That plus the fact that the stallholders harassed... More

The market is sign posted and easy to find, on the way to the heads. Just a quick turn off the main road, on the corner. There were at least 15+ stalls. Many have similar items but each had its own point of difference too. There is a wide selection of wood carvings, bowls, utensils.; there are stone items, small... More

Came across this in the way to Knysna Heads. Doesn't look like much from the street but it's worth a visit. We found items we'd never seen before and at half the price. There are some great unusual pieces if you look for them and we came away with a few items. Sellers are friendly and not pushy and price... More

First it looked like all the other stuff you see in the other markets. However I looked carefully and found wooden carved giraffes that I didn't see elsewhere. It was originally priced at R450 each and we bargained it down to R250. They packed it up very nicely for you so don't worry about the journey carrying it home.

This is a nice little African arts & crafts market where they sell all sorts of small (and some larger) items made of various types of wood of varied provenance from countries of the region, of bone, stone, metal... There are some nice authentic items which they sell for cheaper than what you would pay in the cities, and the... More

We stumbled across this African market having followed signs off the N2...and very very glad to have spent 30 minutes wandering around the market and picking up lots of African goods for presents. Whilst all the stalls "encourage" you to have a look around and buy from them, none of them can be considered pushy, and as other reviewers have... More

Some very nice upscale shops to wander through after a cruise on the bay. Stopped at a restaurant called O Pescador and had a wonderful dish called prawns Nationale while sitting out on their deck.

We went there to find a nice craft and africsn market. Half the stalls were closed and then the stalls that were there were not very nice, the products felt all the same. The market is quite small.

I prefer shopping at markets rather than the tourist shops so I enjoyed our visit here. Many small stalls with traditional African handicraft. A lot made of wood. Most look well made and you can negotiate. Just be nice about it and be ready to say no if you don't love the item. We enjoyed our visit and purchased some... More
