The well-known Elephant Walk at Diepwalle starts and ends at the Diepwalle Forest Station, the "Mecca" of the Knysna forests. The walk offers a number of route options (7km, 8km & 9km). The area is regularly visited by the Knysna elephants but the chance of sighting of these animals is very slight. Currently there are only one elephant left in the forest. The trails are open between 6h00 and 18h00

Nice to do while in Knysna

Nice happening with 7 elephants you can feed and touch and walk together with excellent guides. The guides do a great job explaining and the elephants can really walk fast

We had a great experience with my family in particular my daughter who's studying vet so it was her dream event in South Africa. All well organized and our guides were very kind and knowledgeable.

Did two of the 3routes which all link together- black and white take about 4hours in total. We managed to do them backwards somehow but was a gorgeous walk although being out of the sunlight it can get chilly. A couple of picnic spots if you take a pack lunch and you can drink the spring water along the way.... More

Nice walk through the forest. Plants are dense with true Knysna trees. Heard lots of birds but didn't see any other wild life. There is a lovely picnic spot. Everything was clean and well kept.

Spent a happy few hours with the rescued ellies here just outside the town of Knysna. Fun for everyone, and great to get up close and personal with these amazing animals. You can feed them, then watch them in thir pool playing. lots of good keepers who can answer all your questions. These animals are not for breeding, but have... More

Wonderful walks through the forest, lovely picnic spot and toilets. No elephants to be seen except signs on trees to mark the trails. Some reviews posted belong to the Knysna Elephant park.

nice walk though meandering forrest and tracks. The route we were on (white elephant) crossed a small burn, so care should be taken as the rocks were a little slippy.

This was an amazing experience. As you walk with elephants they hug you with their trunk! We got to feed them and take loads of great photos. Wouldn't have missed it

We did the 8 km long White Trail. Beautiful old fotest! Moderately difficult, the trail took us 2,5 hours. After rain, some sections are muddy and we needed to take off the shoes and trousers to pass the river. Entrance fee 64 Rand. Highly recommended !

Elephants seemed happy and well looked after, although the area where they were kept seemed small in comparison to their size. I had mixed feelings about the elephants doing 'tricks' however the keepers did seem to genuinely care about them.
