We went to Signal Hill on one of the ho-ho buses, to view the sunset. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't kind and it was bitterly cold, and the sunset couldn't be seen through the clouds.

An easy drive to the top giving access to a track up to the Lion's Head. Parking is available but limited. There is a paragliding take off and in favourable winds you can see many taking off from the slope next to the car park....More

I would suggest this place more than the Table mountain cable car. Views of the entire city are more clear than higher up.

Stunning sunset view. Get a seat to the left side of the big mat (facing downhill) so that your view of the sunset is uninterrupted. Take a picnic and watch the sun go down or instead drive down to Camps Bay afterwards for a meal....More

If you don't wait for hours to get to the top of TM, go to Signal Hill at 12 noon and be present for the historical cannon shooting over the city. Nice tradition.
