I was greeted warmly by Clement and then the art took over! This is a hidden gem.Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 4 December 2023

- Dee CeeUnited States17 contributionsDefinitely visit the 'private collection' after shopping! An absolute gold mine of treasures. Beautiful artifacts on display from around Africa as well as some top quality hand-crafted products (if you have the patience to wade through the bulk of touristy merchandise and souvenir hungry mobs). Would recommend a visit -- do not miss the top floor.Visited July 2024Travelled soloWritten 6 August 2024
- Ryan CRegina, Canada12 contributionsBiggest Store of African artifacts on the continentI am speechless. I have never seen a store with so many African artifacts and products like this in my life. There are three floors of goods and a top floor displaying a private collection. They allowed me to take a video and it took me almost 33 minutes to video just the top 3 floors. Amazing Amazing Amazing.Visited August 2024Travelled soloWritten 15 August 2024

This is indeed a great place to shop for souveniers of all sorts for all ages, and the Eye Witness Museum is an interesting addition to the visit that you should wander into if time permits. I spent ages here looking for unique gifts to buy for family and friends. It was reassuring to see price tags on all items you wish to purchase and staff do let you nose about the area freely.
You can also get VAT back at the airport for all purchases above R250 in a single receipt from African Trading Port.

Be sure to visit all the floors in the building: the first floor has smaller items, while some of the best pieces are on the second and third floors. They have a beautifully curated collection of items from across the continent. If you wait to get something after returning home, prices are 2-3x higher on Etsy or EBay.

I visited this shop during my Cape Town tour. Actually it was a open museum of African culture and arts. Their collections was really unbelievable. They have also some animal skins including zebra, giraffe, lion, and deer....But as a animal lover I can't appreciate this!!! A lots of nice souvenir is available there. At least full 1 and half hour is needed to explore this shop. At ground floor you will get all gems and handicraft items. At 1st floor and the wall beside the staircase you will find all special items...

Don't let the carved and welded animal statues outside or the tourist souvenirs on the first floor deceive you. Start your visit at the top floor Eye Witness private collection museum. It has very interesting artifacts. The next two floors have items that have been collected from all over sub saharan Africa for sale. Masks, carvings, hunting implements, horns, animal skins etc. The staff is friendly and can advise you on shipping items to large to carry. It's a must see experience.

We stopped here while in Capetown and was pleasantly surprised. First thing they had African Dancers/singers in front of the store which was entertaining. Once inside there was so many wooden art pieces (mask, statues, furniture, etc) There are 3 floors. We pick up a few small items that would fit in our suitcases as souvenirs.

This is a one-stop shop for all your African souvenirs. We bought a 2m wooden giraffe, and Tracy shepherded it through to Australia. We bought heaps of little trinkets here for friends and family. Local artisans, so you can be sure you're supporting the community.

I bought a zebra hide rug, and two large Burkinabe masks from African Trading Port, and I am very happy with my experience. The staff packed up the rug such that it was easy for me to carry home on the plane, and Stanton managed the shipment of the masks. He was very responsive and polite, and the masks arrived in perfect condition. Thank you very much!

This is a combination of museum (top floor) and shop (rest of the floors). Things vary from animal skins to common keychains and tshirts and most are reasonable priced. The locations, in the middle of the Waterfront area makes it easily accessible.
