Very well organized tour as they divided all the people coming off the boat in different groups. One of the ex-prisoners was our tour guide who with his story captured everybody’s attention. Not only the Mandela bit but everything that happened there should not be...More

Ferry cancelled due to ‘bad weather’ despite it being a glorious, sunny, windless and flat day. There is no point running afternoon ferries if they are going to be cancelled on an almost daily basis. This has ruined our time in Cape Town, as we...More

This is more of an educational tour than one of enjoyment, but certainly one that must be done. Book your tickets online as its very popular and you will queue if you don’t! The ferry ride is approximately 20mins, which gives you great views of...More

Firstly there is the ferry trip over which takes 30-45 mins depending on which ferry you are in. Choose a calm day! First part of the tour is all on a bus and a bit limited but I guess they can’t have tourists just wandering...More

Always important to visit and support those who worked and in many cases suffered to make a political statement about apartheid and injustice. As Mandela said, you can break the man physically but not his ideas or aspirations. Or words to that effect.

Ok, to sections in SA, the last 30 years have been highly important politically, yet this island has hundreds of years of history! But it’s not mentioned, only Mandela and the prison. The boat trip and views of table mountain are superb, but I think...More

The pain that you experience as a person makes you reflect on yourself as a person. it reflects the humanity that black people posses . Being treated so badly but have the spirit to forgive your oppressor.

Sorry to say that we were very disappointed with the half day tour. Our guide did an excellent job of explaining the history of the prison and Mandela’s time in captivity there but the actual tour of the Island and prison seemed worthless. We could...More

This tour is quite disappointing in that the nauticat boat took forever to reach the island. Thereafter, we were hurried into busses and rushed around through such an important place. The tour of the cell was amazing however... More

Apologies for delay. We purchased them online the previous day, which was very simple. There were people purchasing tickets at the booth when we arrived but obviously we don’t know which trip they actually booked. Hope this... More
