A bit of a must do for the city area. Great vrierty of local goods and some imported. Good dealing with the stall owners. lots of batering can be done. Bolught cushions, scarfes, jewellery, tee shirts. Great for cheaper gifts to take home. Some are surprising quality. Well worth the hour for a stroll around for purchases to take home.

Greenmarket square is my favorite market in Cape Town: not too big, not too small. Lots of different choices, reasonable prices after you negotiate a little. What I also really like there is that the stall holders leave you alone. They don't jump on you or harass you to buy something.

Not many stores and shops, but if you are looking for souvenirs and short of time this is the best place. They have many kinds of african souvenirs all in one place and cheaper than the shops in Victoria and Alfred wharf.

Within walking distance of most of the main hotels in the city, Greenmarket Square offers a fascinating insight into the local culture, with many stalls selling locally made curios, fabrics, ceramics, paintings and other interesting items. there are many eateries around it's perimeter and all offer competitive prices. Live music is often to be heard from local performers in the... More

An interesting part of the city, but full of tourists and beware of pick pockets. Be prepared to haggle IF you decide to buy anything. We just listened and watched the entertainment. Great!!

As we normally stay in hotels around the CBD when holidaying in Cape Town, we almost always browse the stalls and grab a bite at one of the surrounding eateries. A bit of a tourist trap in my opinion, but it still attracts us as it is quite quaint and consistently a pleasant place to cruise~ I always land up... More

The square has a good atmosphere with the restaurants, souvenir tents and street artists. Nice place to make a pause and drink something at the outside tables. Just the beggars can be inconvenient sometimes.

This is a fun place to shop. There are tons of vendors all selling wares from different parts of Africa. Make sure to do your homeowrk before purchasing anything. The prices are not cheap and tourist are always charged more money than what the items is worth. Bargin, bargin, bargin, is the best advice I can give.

The greenmarket square is the place to go for those who want to buy souvenirs and simply go for a stroll. The store tends are really nice and you can feel the environment and culture of the south africans.

Spent an hour here searching for souvenirs, from carvings, paintings, African clothing and much more. An outdoor market in the center or town, with quite a few restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Also, some impromptu street performers (dancers) entertained nearby. We were short on time, so filled of most of our low budget souvenir list here. Much of the same... More
