In its prime this would have been a winner. It still was enjoyable enough- long drive through the country, seeing things never seen before - but lots of lengthy stops and the train has passed its best. It's looking tired. Staff also strangely absent a lot of the time, although helpful when you go looking for them. Food mostly average.... More

Mixed feelings about this jurney! Good to know is that they seem to have some problems with the signalsystem along the route so I wouldn't go with this option if I had a time to make it to! This is a great way to see the amazing scenery along this route! You'll get a lot of food aswell! Some good... More

We decided to take the Premier class train between Johannesburg and Cape Town primarily for the reason that we needed to move a car back to Cape Town, and decided to put the car on the train . The Premier class train essentially slot between the standard /tourist class Shosholoza Meyl long distance trains and the ultra-luxurious Blue Train. WE... More

This was our 3rd trip on the Premier Classe train. We try to do the Jhb to Cape Town trip every 2nd or 3rd year. Our trip this year was on 29 September. Overall experience – still a great way to travel to the Cape (if you are not in a hurry). We started off an hour and half late... More

we choose to travel between Cape Town and Johannesburg via rail instead of air. The journey was pleasant. The dining car staff was very attentive, serving good food. Although we had lived in South Africa and traveled extensively before, we got to see some new scenery. We arrived about 45 minutes early. That did lead to some hurdles on luggage.... More

My Daughter and I travelled on the Premier Classe Train on July 26 2016 from Cape Town to Johannesburg. There were other families on board all having a great time. The journey was relaxing, filled with playing games, reading and watching the country side. There is plenty of food and the staff are superb. The train was only 1 hr... More

I booked the premier classe because we really enjoy train travel.an overnight train from Capetown to Jo'Burg with 4 hours to spare to get to the airport to get a flight to Harare seemed reasonable. The train itself is nice, comfortable and the dining very nice. Staff were, for the most part, very pleasant and our overnight beds very comfortable... More

newfusion excellent for reservations with Premiere Classe We have booked a train journey on Premiere Classe via Newfusion . It was not only easy, but Tertius, from NewFusion was extreemly patient with my 1000 requests and gave me all the supplementary information I needed. I have never been to South Africa and his clear information allowed me to organize my... More

We had never taken an overnight train trip before so this was a great opportunity to travel from Capetown to Johannesburg over night. The train itself is very dated and in need of a very good clean. The food was OK certainly not what I had expected ( I had expected more style). What was disappointing was the lack of... More

Our last train trip in SA was over 15 yrs ago so we thought we'd give it a try. Scenic as usual but accommodation was rough. The noisy train along with a hard bed did not add to the fond memories we had. Of course the train broke down with no A/C for over 9 hours. Lots of passengers opted... More
