Hard to review this trip. We had just arrived in Jo-burg and took the train to CT, thinking it would be a nice way to acclimatize. It was. We had such a fabulous time hanging out with our college age kids whom we never see...More

Worth every cent if you not in a rush, as said in previous reviews the train isn't always on time but that is no fault of the train itself but rather the railroad operators. The train is beautiful - spotless clean, delicious abundant food and...More

I booked an overnight journey from Jo'burg to Durban on-line with African Sun Travel. Finding the embarkation area at Joburg station was something of a challenge not helped by rude dismissive officials at the gate. The premier class lounge was comfortable with adequate refreshments available....More

We went Cape - Johannesburg, spent 2 nights with friends, went on Johannesburg- Durban. Boarding reasonably smooth. Food good. Enjoyed scenery in daylight parts of trip. Hours late arriving, don’t plan a critically timed transfer. Service generally good, but you may need to ask for...More

Instead of flying from Johannesburg to Cape Town we decided to spoil ourselves with a 'Premier Class' trip on the Shosholoza Meyl train so we could take in the sights and scenery along the way. The check in process and pampering prior to departure left...More
