Cannot recommend visiting this place more for a good nature experience. Wild baboons, fresh water rock pool swimming made even better with designated picnic and barbecue spots. Well maintained and looked after by locals, nature untouched and beautiful. The drive and views en route and return at sunset are amazing!

We had a awesome, beautiful drive along the Bains Kloof Pass. How amazing was the road rising and falling along the mountains and valleys. Great drive.

We motorbiked through this famous pass built by Andrew Bain in the 1850's with friends on a beautiful spring morning. It is a superb experience, particularly the northern side where the road goes under rock overhangs. Trucks cannot use this pass which makes it great for other vehicles. Use of the pass by bicycles would require some caution but an... More

Bainskloof Pass in the Western Cape is one of the most impressive passes in South Africa (and there a few more nice passes in South Africa). A real masterpiece of Andrew Bain who built the pass nearly 170 years ago. On this road (30 km.) you are often on your own.

Must not be in a rush when you do this pass. You need time to stop and take in the breathtaking views. The road is narrow so requires the driver's concentration. And once you are through the beautiful Tulbagh valley is there for you to explore.

We just drove to the top on our Harley, wonderful experience. Been living for 13 years in the Cape, and only discovered it now. Surely will go back, the views are just mind-blowing.

We are on a mission to drive as many passes in the world as possible. This is definitely one of the best in South Africa. The road surface is not good at all so don't bring your Ferrari or any vehicle with a low suspension. The bends are tight and continue for 25km's, a real treat for any petrol head.... More

We took yet more family through this enchanting, ancient kloof. And everytime my breath is taken away yet again. You can NOT drive through this and imagine a world without a Creator.
