This museum and site is not rely easy to find, either use your car sat navigation or check the map on the website. The road direction broads are somewhat obscured or none existent. We used the sat nav and once you spot the cross that is at the top of the hill you know your heading in the right direction.... More

We got lost a few times as signage is not great ! Dirt road out was in good condition. The museum at Magersfontein with the video of the actual battle is exceptional. Great coffee and food at the cafe as well! Must visit!

There were many kilometres of unpaved road, lost of hillocks, a few goats, and poor signage. The small unattended museum building half way round was well done, the film show was good, as were the displays, but the small guide map was poor and for some of the track a 4 x 4 vehicle was needed; we turned back. Fine... More

The movie that is shown in the museum is excellent providing you with enough information to understand what transpired here. There isn't a lot to see here but if you enjoy your history definitely worthwhile to visit and the view from the monument on top of the hill is awesome.

The place is very well kept and as far as can be judged also well protected from human scavengers. The visitor is provided with a simple but useful map showing points and areas of interest. Some of the places allow for access by foot only, whereas for instance the museum is easily accessed by anyone. The place is a must... More

The museum is off the beaten track and was a surprisingly well kept little place. Definitely worth a visit if you're interested in the Anglo Boer war.

A drive down a gravel road to the entrance. Delightful staff. Saw tortoises and meerkats. Superb little restaraunt run by Martha for 39 years. We were the only people there. Excellent museum with film and spectacular views. I was not expecting much but it was quite a highlight for us. Bought some of marthas homemade jams.

This battlefield was the site of a massive defeat of the Highland Regiments by the Boer army. The Scottish troops wrongly thought the Boers were on top of a mountain and they cleverly had dug themselves into trenches near the bottom. The advancing regiments were surprised and devastated. The museum is pretty good and the battlefield walks best done early... More

Well worth the trip out to see the battlefield and the small but interesting museum. Also stop and have refreshements at the little cafe, Martha makes a mean milk tart.

Good exhibition of Anglo Boer War artefacts, weapons and clothing. Dramatization of the actual battle is very interesting.
