We had a few hours to spare while visiting relatives in Nelspruit. The tour is very informative and you are quite close to the Chimps. However for children under 5 i think it is a bit tedious and not interactive enough. Our kids lost interest...More

Definitely worth a visit to support the work they do for the chimps. Do not expect a chimp show, you walk with the guide to 2 enclosures where they feed the chimps and you get some info on the history of the chimps and what...More

Need to adapt tours for kids - too long - too boring . Did not like the fact that the guide joked about the chimp knowing how to give a nazi salute.

Visited the sanctuary for the 2nd time. Previous visit was about 4 years ago. Great for the kids. Enjoyed the tour... pretty knowledgeable guide. Also great to know that Joao (the Mozambican chimp) os still alive and kicking. Worth a visit.

Great opportunity to observe rehabilitated chimpanzees in pleasant surroundings. Our guide was a bit verbose and tested the attention span of some of the family. Tickets not cheap but see it as your donation to the great work this sanctuary is doing!

The shop has very limited stock and the restaurant or coffee shop was not quite what we expected. There is absolutely no interaction with the chimps but our excellent guide explained that disappointment away. Very interesting facts were learnt.

We went with friends with small children and all enjoyed it. Nice to see the rehabilitated chimpanzees in a safe spacious environment.

We took the late morning guided tour. You see 2 of the 3 chimp enclosures during the tour. You always view them through a fence so it is not the best for photography. The guide feeds them macadamia nuts to attract them (and for protein...More

As much as hearing the unfortunate experiences of each of chimpanzees and the excellent treatment they get at chimp eden, I feel the amount of R180pp for a 1 hour show and tell is too expensive for local visitors. On the tour we learnt that...More

Hi Chris - Apologies for this late response - I have just seen the query now. In South Africa (Southern Hemisphere) our winters are June-August. This is a lovely time of year in the Lowveld (the part of the country where the... More
