Must have patience, but its still a natural beauty to see these animals in their natural habitat. Make sure to either do your drive early morning or late afternoon, because the Park really gets alive during these time slots. Make sure to pack some snacks, because the day might get long after driving so slow to spot different animals on your drive.

We Enjoyed a 7 day self-drive safari throughout Kruger National Park. We had amazing animal sights in April/May 2022. There were less humans on the road during this time as well.
We booked into Satara camp bungalows high-recommend staying a few nights here as the view and kitchen's are full stocked with cooking equipment. Olifants, just plan on visiting for the river view and skip booking into. Their bungalows are not fully stocked with cooking equipment. Letaba, is worth booking into for a few nights. Their bungalows are fully equipped and screened in. We saw elephants on the river from our front porch.

If you’re looking for an off-road, completely natural experience, Kruger isn’t the place. After you pay your entrance fee, the roads are paved, and — unless you’re with a tour — you drive yourself around the park. Even most of the tour companies stick to the paved roads. You can tell when there’s an animal sighting when you see a traffic jam of cars all vying for a view. There are some fantastic sights, though. In one day we saw four of the Big Five. I would recommend booking a night drive with one of Kruger’s own drivers. It’s an unforgettable experience.

This experience is not to be missed if you are in the country. You can start outside the park to make it more affordable and also do self drives (ZAR880 for 2 adults) but you should do at least one safari with a guide since they know all the best bits. A full day safari is good value but you see the big cats mostly early morning or after 3pm when they start moving around again. So either a sunrise or sunset game drive is good value. The park closes at 5:30pm in winter so if you are self s driving you need to be out by then. Mid day is great for elephants, giraffes, zebras. Surprisingly a lot can be spotted if driving slowly along the main roads. The dirt roads look like small loops but since they are unpaved, and the elephants footprints make large potholes, so you end up spending an hour to drive a 20km stretch.
Rest stops have some snacks n souvenirs, it’s better to pack some food while you drive around so that you won’t be hungry for long.
We saw the big 5 every day for 3 days, multiple times in a day so it can be done!

What a disappointment. Don’t think about going to Kruger. The animals appear to be virtually non existent. We only saw one of the big five and having to stay on the road means you can’t really see the animals at all; unless they decide to also walk on the road which is rare.
Sabi Sands however, is a different story but you have to stay in a lodge. Staying at “Idube” was wonderful. Great food, staff, accomodation and ANIMALS galore easily found by awesome tracker and driver.

The 3 days myself and my wife spent in Kruger was brilliant we had a wonderfull time our guide was really nice and from the minute he picked us up at nelspruit airport we felt at ease he was a lovely man and very knowledgeable. We saw all the big five and much more.We stayed at lower Sabie rest camp .The bungalow we stayed in was perfect. The trip was organised by Sue Garson at safaris for Africa We have done various day trips, and a 9 day trip to Namibia a few years ago with Safaris for Africa.I would highly recommend this company.

Tamboti camp needs some maintenance. No hot water in the kitchen. Poor drainage in the showers. Tents need maintenance and some need to be closed off until maintained and revamped.

I used to be a big fan of Kruger and visited the park multiple times over the past 30 years, so it is with great sadness that I write a bad review about one of my favorite places in the world. My review pertains to the accommodations, general upkeep, and game drives (nature is as gorgeous as ever).
We stayed in Satara and the units are falling apart. Many appliances are old or not in working condition and the units were filthy. It is clear that there has been no maintenance for several years/decades. After a few nights, we changed to Onder-Sabie and was delighted to see that some of the units were updated. Unfortunately, the public bathrooms were filthy with no lights (see picture for missing bulb) and the a/c unit had no cover (see picture). It was clear that the a/c unit was probably not up to code, so we decided not to use it (even though it was 38 degrees Celsius). We went on a bush walk and a game drive and were disappointed in the unprofessional demeanor of the rangers. One participant on the game drive was watching videos on his cell phone and receiving messages during the whole drive (even when we stopped to look for a lion) and the ranger said nothing. I do not recommend the over-priced game drives or bush walks. During the bush walk the rangers promoted pseudo-science and stated untrue facts backed up by anecdotes. The roads inside the park are not too bad, but the South African roads, in general, are in terrible shape (see the picture as an example of a few of the many potholes we encountered on our way to the park). I am hopeful that the management of Kruger National Park will take the many complaints to heart and improve the terrible state of affairs.

It is always an amazing experience to visit the Kruger Park. Every time we are surprised, this time the bush was lush and green and we were very fortunate to see so many wild and bird life.

Yes but the company who we booked with paid for it.I think if you were doing the trip independently you would have to pay at the gate as you enter the park

Hi all, I'm struggling to find reviews on volunteering at Krugar National Park. I'm going out there in September 2022 with IVHQ and would love to know if someone has done this.

Bom dia! Estou planejando uma viagem sozinha para o Kruger Park, mas não me sinto muito segura para dirigir. Gostaria de saber se é viável fazer a viagem/passeios sem alugar carro. Planejo me hospedar dentro do parque.
Obrigada!

OI Cmobus!
You ended up at two different police stations? How did that happen?

It has to be between opening and closing times of camp gate. (the camp is where you will be staying I suppose) . No getting out of car except designated spots. No body parts out of car windows. They iwll give you stuff ot read. its huge fun. You can also go on some of the arranged drives and I would suggest try a night drive

Hello! Question about self-drive safari - Does The Park have any requirements or limitations on the type of vehicles you can use? I was thinking about trying to rent a car with a sunroof so I can stand up and take photos from that vantage point, but I cannot find any information if that is allowed.
Thank you,
Jessica

Hola! Vamos a ir de viaje a Sudáfrica en 15 días y estaremos un par de días por Kruger. Nos gustaria saber si aceptan dolares o euros allí para pagar la comida o en las tiendas. Muchas gracias!

Salve, vorrei prenotare un all day private safari per Settembre.
Ho cercato su diversi blog e siti ma non sono riuscito a trovare siti/agenzie affidabili e chiari per poter fare questo tipo di safari.
Avete qualche consiglio a riguardo?
