Knowledgable experience understanding these amazing animals
Really enjoyed our experience and understanding so much about the elephants. It’s important to understand the elephants and how intelligent they are for future conservation efforts. The guides were very knowledgeable and Tembo took us aback by being able to recognise specific people and would always be waiting with his trunk for the treats! It’s unique to get so close to these amazing animals and something I would recommend to do whilst in the area.

Up close and personal with Tembo the elephant.
We choose the simple program. The experience was relatively short but there was a lot packed into the 1 hour timeframe. It was informative and interactive, and I felt really good about the way the animals are treated. The up close and personal parts of the experience were pretty magical and the staff was extremely helpful; taking photos and videos with people's phones so the guests could fully enjoy the interactions, and engaging the kids with safe opportunities to interact.

AMAZING PLACE !! Beyond any words and of our expectations!
Wow, Just WOW!! What an exceptional experience we had. We booked a half day with these beautiful and magnificent Elephants. It was great to take part in a day to experience the caring of these Animals, Which Included mucking out the stables with the lovely stable hands who were welcoming, funny and so freindly, and they both most deffinately put us straight to work (Phew) 🤣 Cindy was amazing and my Goodness, do they both work hard (Hats off to them both). We Checked the Elephant all over to ensure all was OK, checking behind there ears, under there armpits, feet, stomach, tails, rubbing there tongues 😲, checking there teeth and tusks, cleaning and brushing them as well as being informed of how the Elephants veins work, as well as many other interesting facts 😀 I had to keep asking myself 'Is this real, am I really doing this?' 🤣 All of the staff here were absolutely amazing, very freindly and very Knowledgeable. We even met the owner of the Elephants (Andre) who was very welcoming, freindly and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him. Andre was always happy to stop and have a chat with us throughout the day and answer all of our questions and ensuring that we had the full experience and that we were looked after very well. The walk around the park seeing these Elephants in there natural habitat was Absolutely AMAZING!! The interactions that we had throughout the day was beyond my expectations and beyond any words, it was so un real and was worth every penny that we had spent to spend the day with them. I would deffinately recommend a visit to Elephant Whispers for the day to receive the full experience. However, the 2 hour tour that we were part of throughout the day was also amazing for people to meet the Elephants and they also got a photo opportunity. I can honestly not thank these guys enough for the day that we spent woth them, it was absolutely beyond words and went way beyond any of our expectations. It was an experience that we will NEVER forget!! Thank you all !!!

    Elephant encounter and education
I was skeptical about going to Elephant Whispers but after doing some research I felt that the animals seem to be well cared for so we went. The facility is beautiful, right on the river and the elephants have a very nice stable to sleep in at night. The staff was great and spent a lot of time educating the group about elephants. You get to feed them and take pictures with them. The five elephants that live there are rescues (saved from culling) and are well cared for. The place is clean, there are a variety of things for the elephants to eat and they are allowed to roam freely on the property when they are not interacting with guests. They have a relationship with local farmers to provide elephant dung for fertilizer and in return the farmers provide fruit for the elephants. As there were hippos in the river we were not allowed to walk with the elephants and had to ride. We did the sunset experience which allowed us to walk up the hill (away from the river) with them to the stable and watch how they get put to bed. The staff set up a nice table near the stable with sundowners and snacks and answered all our questions about the elephants. I spoke with several members of the staff and they have been working with elephants for 12-20 years. My child was over the moon about being able to learn about these gentle giants and interact with them.

We paid for a one hour 'interaction' with the elephants but what it really involved was watching a performance by 5 elephants. We then we lined up with everyone else on the interaction to one-by-one feed an elephant, pat its trunk, touch its tusk then down its side etc while they take your photo. It's a very prescriptive encounter, and you literally only get long enough to have your photo taken, not to appreciate the amazing animal you are stood beside touching.

When I booked I imagined we'd be interacting with the elephant for more than the 2 minutes we got, and feeding/touching them at our leisure. The rest of the time is spent watching them demonstrate commands with the elephant watching it eat its pile of leaves and watching the other tourists have their interactions.

Please also note there is somebody sat on all of the elephants controlling them at all times, so they are also in your picture.

Very expensive by South African standards and hence expected more true interaction time, not just watching which is what is largely was.

Skip this! It was all a show- they rush you in and out and the first people you meet are rude. The elephant handlers are very nice and actually do love the elephants. They just want to get in and out and it’s all about making money. The poor animals are forced to stand in one place and perform. After seeing them in the wild on the safari my heart broke for the elephants at elephant whisper

With a “tour” round a named elephant, who can respond to more than 100 different commands, this visit is a must for animal lovers. You see different elephants - who are able to roam in a large conservancy as they please except when they “deal with” tourists - and one of them close up. But don’t go behind the tail!
You can touch and stroke the elephant’s skin, supervised in small groups.
By paying extra you may have a ride for about twenty minutes, sitting astride an elephant’s back.

Me and my wife visited as part of a honeymoon experience, we were not disappointed!
The elephant experience followed by the elephant ride was more than we could have imagined it would be, Tembo the gentle giant elephant bull was incredible and fascinating to watch.
It was really nice to hear how well they are looked after and the “tricks” that they can do are due to positive reinforcement similar to how we train domestic dogs and not due to negative enforcement.
The guides and grooms are very knowledgeable and helpful.
All the elephants look really well looked after and happy, and we are told they are free to roam and do whatever they want to do after public visits.
We would absolutely love to come back! Thank you for this experience.

Tourist attractions with wild animals does not sound good, but at Elephant Whispoers, they got it right! The kids really wanted to go there and I'm glad we did.

The elephants have lots of space and are very well cared for. They learn commands through a reward system, the elephants are more than willing to interact and show off for guests in exchange for treats.
We were at the elephants with a small group, so it was relaxed and quiet. The guides shared a lot of knowledge with us, it was very educational for all of us! We love the photo of our family together with Tembo ! Very special !

Booked the Sunset Interaction for the 9th Nov 2022. Had the most amazing time with Tembo and the herd. I have spent a lot of time with Asian elephants over the years but this was my first time to even see an African elephant. They are so much bigger! However, Tembo was such a gentle giant, what a beautiful creature, it was pure joy and a real privilege to spend just a small amount of time with him and the rest of the herd. The sunset ride was just fantastic. to then accompany the herd to their stable beds for the night was a real treat, even if I didn't want to say goodnight to them. I was tempted to bed down with them....lol
Drinks and snacks were served and we watched an amazing African sunset, what a great afternoon that was over far too soon!
I can't wait to come back.

This place is amazing. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgable . They gave us lots of interesting information about the Elephants, whilst also giving us all time to touch and feed the most amazing gentle giant- Tembo. What an absolute beauty he is. They will take lots of photos for you as well. We also did the Elephant walk after the interaction and this was excellent. It gave us time to get some 121 time with the Elephants whilst the owner chatted to us. The man who took the time to talk to our son was fantastic and really made the day even more memorable. Thankyou elephant whispers, i hope we will return again one day.
