The toilets were clean but the surrounding area neglected.
the shop is well stocked but the staff, whilst friendly, unprofessional.
Same goes for the coffee bar.
the tables around the eating area are neglected, in disarray, the lapa thatch roof suffers from the same neglect.
the picnic benches are not just dirty but grimy, both tables and seats, the area just off the braai areas toward the river bank are full of litter and cut vegetation just left in untidy heaps.
As stated, the staff are friendly and helpful but it all seems to point to a lack of directive and managerial supervision.
The parks board could really get so much more value both in financial terms as well as building goodwill with a little care and effort.
The lasting impression is that KNP park management and staff don't seem to value and have pride in what is in their care and the picture that tourists, locals and foreigners will paint to friends, family and agencies.

Brilliant trading post with comfy chairs, lovely eats and lovely local crafts on sale. Recommend for a stop off - not like other Kruger picnic spots which are really basic.

This is a very popular stop for keuger visitors so it is always very busy and the wait for food is long. They often run out of the more popular items early and are quite expensive. The roosterkoek wasn't great and it was so busy there was no where to sit and eat so we ate in the car.

A great area to stop in for coffees and cake. With views overlooking the river, Tshokwane is an ideal picnic spot or a caffeine hit.

Tshokwane has ample shaded area and plenty of seating for those needing to rest their weary legs. When in Kruger, Tshokwane would prove to be a natural place to stop.

We only had a few days in Kruger, so we were in the queues for gate opening, and just made it back for gate closing. We quite forgot that we hadn't eatun for 8 hours, untill we arrived. The smells wafting from the BBQ made us very hungry – the food was great.

A historical and traditional stopping place for a break and something to eat and drink.

Food id basic but excellent, staff friendly but beware of troublesome monkeys and birds.

We stopped at Tshokwane Picnic Site to buy some snacks and drinks. As in all the picnicand rest sites of the Kruger, we parked and made our purchases without any problems. The yesterday and today sighting boards were useful to decide in which direction to continue our safari.

Another lovely picnic site which has great improved. The restaurant offers lovely jaffles and a good coffee. The curio shop is well stocked. The monkeys make it interesting especially if you hire a scottle and cook your own meal. You won't be sorry you popped in

The Tshokwane Picnic Site within the Kruger National Park is one of those iconic picnic sites you just have to visit. It is located close to the Skukuza Rest Camp and is easily accessible. The site includes a curio shop, a small restaurant and a beautiful veranda built around a big tree in the middle. When we visited we decided to grab something to eat from the restaurant and I was lucky enough to get the last Kudu Pie which was very tasty, though I recommend they prepare more venison pies as it is always a hit with visitors. When you visit you are also able to rent a "skottel-braai" (a concave metal dish heated by gas fire) which you can use to make breakfast - always a fun experience! To top it all off, the ablutions were nice and clean and the staff were friendly. Just keep an eye out for the monkeys and birds, as they are quick to grab something off your table when you're not looking!
