enjoyed the experience...we were learning about this in history....battle of blood river, etc...visitted in 1979....your date selection does not allow me to click on correct date.

Truly a hidden gen in Pietermaritzburg. Interesting building on the property. Lots of artifacts from Voortrekker era

Small museum, with friendly staff. Had some interesting older mansions on the property.In all it gave a good impression of the voortrekkers era

This museum is really fantastic with well-kept and extensive displays and staff that are friendly and helpful. My only critique is that the museum starts off with a display on Apartheid and the struggle era, which happened after the Voortrekker time. It could be nicer...More

There is great deal to learn about the political and geographical history of the Pietermaritzburg region here. The artifacts and exhibits are well displayed and very interesting.

I am ashamed to say we were the only 4 visitors so we were shown round the various buildings by a guide. There are many interesting artifacts and a lot of information about the history of this area.

Sad to see a wonderful part of Afrikaaner history less visited. love this place. pity the setting is next to a busy taxi rank in the center of town.....what crap town planning. Beautiful sculptures and exhibits love the old church and decor absolutely delightful

Displays were good but disappointed that most of the museum is about apartheid and not the voortrekkers English and the zulus

There is safe and ample parking in the museum grounds. There is also a checkpoint before entering the general area so the place is relatively safe.
