Kids cycled and long boarded along the Golden Mile - always clean and well kept and a credit to Durban Municipality.

I am sad that this part of the coastline is being left to die a slow death. Visited this past weekend, massive rocks on the beachfront and loiterers.

Clearly this is a lovely beach but it's very dirty and we did feel a little uncomfortable by some of the attention. To be fair the stroll down to the Shaka shopping centre was nice and the sun was lovely even in mid-winter.

After a morning visit to the aquarium, I spent the afternoon walking the full 7 km length from south beach to the Stadium. Great spots for eating--especially Afro's Chicken Shop. Definitely the best Peri Peri and Tjips (chips)I have had in S. Africa since working here four months. Fascinating art-deco architecture, and the Sun Casino, ending with the Moses Mabhida... More

This is an absolute must if visiting Durban. You can hire bikes from either Moses Mabida stadium or uShaka and take a lovely ride up and down the promenade. There are lovely places to stop and eat. You can take your dog for a walk as well :-) really lovely on a summers day, although Durban hardly has a winter.... More

Large ,open promenade with some good restaurants however there are areas that smell of urine and there are some unsavoury characters lurking in the shrubs and on benches. One does not always feel safe.

When the soccer World Cup came to Durban 2010,, the city created its own 'yellow brick road', by developing and paving the wonderful walk-way that spreads from the Umgeni River mouth, north,to Ushaka, at the end of Addington Beach, south. Walk, cycle, rollerskate, jog, Durbanites had open access to a wonderful pathway alongside the Indian Ocean and Durban's best beaches.... More

A very good place to go cycling walking or jogging. Fresh unpolluted air from the sea.Very unlike the roads where car fumes are always present.I am a regular on the golden mile on my cycle.

Some interesting sights - certain spots filthy and you need to be on the look for crime - Great for adults - but with kids my nerves would be shot

Great place to run, walk or ride. Flat and open. Lots of people but plenty of room to move. Few water points is main negative.
