It was my first visit to Soweto and all the sightseeing. One day is not enough if you include a traditional lunch at Sakhumzi Restaurant. The cultural and historical walk was a life enriching experience. Must compliment everyone for the friendliness and warmth. We are going back !!!!

It’s nice and busy, I would like it but dancers beg for tips that I didn’t like. I didn’t ask them to dance for me because I knew they want money for me but they started to dance and later followed me.

Excellent Lunch at 1947

We ate at 1947 restaurant. The food was great and the wine selection was as good as anywhere

The service was exceptional. They have a great sommelier, Skhue, who even corrected the error on our bill when we over paid. I am not sure I have ever experienced that.

Walk from Tutu's house to Mandela's house and experience this historical street. There's a lot of poverty still in Soweto, and it's sad that for many, not much has changed since democracy has come :(

I was so disappointed with my visit to Vilikazi Street. It has become so commercialized and touristy, that they have lost the special vibe that was there. There were artists(dancers) who harassed the tourists and it was crowded. Having said that, you should go and see South African history for yourself, at least once!

It was nice to see the historic street, but it has become rather touristie. We were more interested in the history than the novelty.
