The story of living under apartheid in general and the courage of Nelson Mandela and his compatriots is well captured on the site of was once a rural small-holding.

I really appreciated seeing the actual buildings where this part of the history of the struggle against apartheid took place. (In his "Long Walk to Freedom" autobiography, Mandela describes his time living here under an alias and the raid that led to the Rivonia Trial.)...More

I enjoyed every room/ exhibit in this museum. The interactive videos were placed at every possible area. The guide helped us to understand every part of the museum. The experience leaves like we relived the history of the arrest of Nelson Mandela.

This display and interactivity is the best I have seen this far- for a complex historical and political topic! Very impressive. Suitable for school children and any age. Expertly done, interesting, intriguing and challenging. Highly recommended!

The museum is well done -- lots of information presented in an easy to absorb format. Helped put recent South African history in context. Key figures, some well-known and others relatively unknown, come alive.

Good presentation of anti-apartheid efforts by blacks and whites. A must-see tribute to those who fought apartheid and the sacrifices they made.

Add to the history of the story by a bit here. This is where Nelson Mandela was finally captured and the story behind it. You cannot know the complete story without a visit here.

I find many museums hard work, but Lilliesleaf is very modern and interactive and gives you an ultimate feel-good feeling. One of the best museums I've ever been to. It's a must for anyone visiting Johannesburg.

Sorry it's taken a long time to answer - it 's either going to be relevant or not. An hour is not really enough time to absorb yourself in it's complete history. If you just want a quick walk round that's fine, but there... More
