Don't go and waste your time here. The entrance which was R25 rand ended up in an attempt to charge us a bribe of >R900 to take photos (outside!!) whilst there were numerous other teens behind us also taking photos (outside)...clear discrimination!!
The park is overgrown with weed and poorly maintained building does not make it any more attractive....sad to see where our hard earned taxes are going!!

I love this museum! The art is world class!! It’s all artists who loved or are from South Africa. Fantastic. I was and am so impressed by the quality. Wow!!! The park outside is also great with huge trees, a little playground and also more sculptures. It’s a must for anyone who is interested in art.

Only African Ethnic art was on display. While this may be politically correct for South Africa, it is not very stimulating

Always a pleasure to visit this museum, always exhibitions of high standard and never a disappointment. Pity though that this gem should be surrounded by a city centre in decay.

A once wonderful little gallery that has gone to ruin. They had quite a good collection but have lost a lot due to theft. The completely disinterested staff also drag the tone down.

If you are forced to go to this museum, don't expect the world-class exhibitions of 10 years ago. Just hold on to your wallet or handbag, pay a guard and extra insurance for your car and try to survive the stink. Don't cry too much. Remember Da Vinci? Rather get a good art book and reminisce at home.

With a few exceptions, the arts have never been a South African attraction. The nature and wildlife has. This is particularly true of the Pretoria Art Museum. Should you wish to see a reasonable collection of paintings and sculpture in Gauteng, in all of South Africa for that matter, you might want to consider visiting the Johannesburg Art Gallery. Unfortunately its collection has dwindled in the last 20 years and the gallery buildings themselves have become somewhat dilapidated as the curators have sold a Picasso and a marble sculpture by August Rodin "Ms Fairfax" to pay for BMWs. There are still items of beauty and historical significance; some of which the wife of an early mining magnate on the reef sold her wedding ring to acquire.

Thanks for the privilege to visit South Africa in the month of August, 2014. I took tour to several interesting places in Pretoria with the Phillipians 4 four Travels and tours. The man (Solly Phalade) who drove me around to all the places was very calm and articulated with a high sense of responsibility.
In most of the places visited, not only was he my driver, he helped also in taking of photographs as chronicle of my visit to the Country.
I have recommended Phillipians 4 four Travels and Tours to most of my friends who asked of my experience in South Africa.
Finally, I strongly recommend this company for patronage. Attached are some of the memorable pictures taken during my visit.

If you are not an art lover do not visit. I enjoy certain art but the visit was not one of my best moments.
