This is obviously a pre-democracy museum in serious need of updating. The contents is impressive, given the size and range of the exhibits. There is little modern here, no interactive displays and probably quite boring for children.

This relatively small museum punches well above it's weight. It has been very well curated and conatins world class exhibits. The library is excellent. The librarian is very well informed and particlarly helpfull. I happened to be researching into the 4th South African Armoured Car regiment and it's activities in WW2. The librarian knew a lot about this and the... More

This is an excellent attraction for history buffs to come and have a look at. Various artifacts of South Africa's military presence in various stages of history. The most moving and significant of these is the Delville Wood sections detailing South Africa's involvement in WWII. The beautiful outdoor displays of artillery and aircraft is very impressive. Lots of green where... More

This is a great place to learn about the past of our South African Military and to see how we were years ago. I definitely recommend this as a great day out, and since it is right next door to the Joburg zoo, you can go there after you are done at the museum.

For an unbiased view of south african armies and their equipment ,from the boers to the british , from the SADF to the Liberation armies ... tanks and planes galore , a little restaurant for fresh cake and coffee , a little shop for toy soldiers or medals or even bayonets

My son is 5 and one of his favorite places to go in jozi is the military museum.so many things to see and do there although the little cafe that was onsite has closed down sadly so take your own refreshments to sit on the grass area and watch the little ones explore!
