So much to see here, give yourself some time to see the creative genius of these people. Rich culture, brilliant food to share, busking...(got to see my gum boot dance) and creativity...again...not enough time was spent here

Everyone seems to have the same stuff for sale. Some is hand made especially the bead work but much seems to be mass produced.

There is a good selection of African crafts, materials, clothes on display. Be prepared to bargain. I didn't enjoy being harassed by the stall holders to look at their wares and told them so. I told them I wanted to be free to look and...More

Allow yourself plenty of time because this place is huge. Great place to buy gifts for yourself and to take home for friends. Prices are good.

The market is unassuming from the entrance. It is located in the Rosebank mall and the entrance to the market is just near the Absa Bank. You walk in to a shop front and then at the back of that area, you then go downstairs...More

Very nice craft market with lot's of choice, each stand has lot's of stock so plenty to choose from, you need to barter which is all part of the fun you can easily get 20-30% off the start price. The items we bought very well...More

when you're in the neighborhood, or when you have time. It's not that special, a busy market with to much of the same market stalls. A few nice things, but I expected more special, unique stuff so I was a little disappointed.

A fun mix of curios, culture and cuisine. It's a bit of a circus, and be prepared to be sold to by most of the vendors there. But the sales pressure is not as great as some other reviews might suggest, and the overall vibe...More

Purposely went to buy African gifts. The downside is having to barter on price. Not comfortable knocking prices down and as a result I found I paid far too much as I got similar items a lot less at the African shops at the Airport....More

Hi Beth, answers are yes and yes. You will feel quite safe there. Also agree with Michelle to keep your wits about you. Don't allow wallets to be seen etc. Food hall also very good, give it a try.
