We were shopping for souveniers to take home and have been pricing things like ostrich eggs, wooden bowls, tops in Capetown before arriing in Johannesburg. We found the prices at the African Cragt Market the most reasonable for your money. For instane, most shops charge...More

I visited this market while in Rosebank on a SUNDAY . The market is downstairs in a car park. The selection is pretty standard tourist stuff with not much originality and rather too much hustling. Not really worth the bother.

Since Johannesburg was our first stop on our two week vacation, we didn't buy anything. Nothing really caught our eye either. Glad we waited because we found many items that were unique when we went to Zimbabwe and Cape Town.

The market now has kiddies activities as well as a variety of food- these are both pluses. However, I didnt find anything on sale that was appealing. The market always had the latest products in terms of african design, and I was disappointed on this...More

Johannesburg was my first stop on a 3 1/5 week trip through Southern Africa so I was hesitant to buy too much. I also thought the prices might be higher in the city. After my trip I can tell you- the prices are great. Wish...More

It was nice to see and walk around. It was smaller than I expected and it felt touristic. Guess it also is. What I don't like is that they call you to come in and start telling that they will sell it to me for...More

There was a nice variety of items available but all of them were way overpriced. The same items at the V&A waterfront in Cape Town were less than half as much and the trinkets we bought at Freedom Square were even less than that.

Just the usual tourist souvenirs that you can get any where, and you probably can get them cheaper if you are touring South Africa.

I think the rooftop us only on Sundays, and the craft market is there all the time. The rooftop is much larger, but generally most of the items are similar.
