Initially had little intention of exploring the caves - and so glad we changed our minds to view natures created stalactite and stalagmites from the humble water drop. Our guide was well informed and made every effort to make it as interesting as possible. Although an extremely hot day, once we got down the 84 steps and were down in... More

Massive limestone cave , discovered and partially plundered by Italian miners who then scarpered as the Boer war threatened them. 45 steep steps followed by a further descent in a lift. Amazing formations which have grown over tens of thousands of years. Oxygen a little short due to the altitude and the lack of ventilation in the cave. The cave... More

Great to see limestone cave that has not been stripped. The columns that have even produced over the years are spectacular. Good selection for lunch that was tasty.

A few steep steps to the bottom but nothing major. Had a amazing tour guide explaining the forming of the cave and answered all questions our group had to ask. Truly a unique place to visit with family or friends. They have a restaurant for a cold enjoyable drink after the tour. Driving to and from the caves you can... More

A really stunning cave! Essentially only one cavan, but a really beautiful one. The guide was not the best, but you don't need a great guide to appreciate the splendor that is Wonder Cave. I highly recommend it.

A really worthwhile visit, the Wonder Cave is situated inside the Rhino and Lion Park. The tour runs every hour and an experienced guide takes you around and tells you some very interesting facts about the cave, history, and wildlife. The cave is beautiful and has a wide range of geological formations. Apart from the steep steps leading down to... More

One of the best caves I have been to in South Africa has to be the Wonder Caves. Here you can still see a cave that has not been stripped totally of it's natural beauty by man as many of the other caves in South Africa. The guide was very informative and told me more things that was discovered in... More

The wonder cave is within the Lion & Rhino Nature Reserve. Post our animal tour, we reached this place. The tour is every hour and is for around an hour. Please be mindful that one has to walk down and then up a lot of steep steps. Post walking down the steps, one is taken further down via an industrial... More

A friend suggested we try these caves instead of going straight to Sterkfontein, and we were thrilled! The cave is hidden away down a secret crevasse, accessed by a steep flight of stairs and a little old lift. Inside is magical though, with stalactites and stalagmites dripping all around - one looking just like a statue of the Virgin Mary.... More

My brother and I visited the cave after we abandoned a tour of Sterkfontein Caves as they were too over crowded for our liking on that particular day. Lucky for us as we ended up being the only two people on tour at Wonder Cave. The tour guide was fun, friendly, knowledgeable and made our tour. The cave itself was... More
