The Hertzog Square used to be a landmark in Bloemfontein. As a child my family and I used to go walking around at the Square on tranquil evenings, saying hi to friends, buying ice cream and playing on the lawns. Unfortunately this is not a safe place to walk anymore, you can get mugged in broad daylight and this is... More

Visited the square as it is close to the museum. There is so much potential, but the square does not seem to be well maintained, the ponds were dirty and a person just does not feel very comfortable or safe.

The Square can be a gem, if the authorities wanted it to: but it was clear to me that it had seen its better days. Although the grass around the square was green, the water in the ponds was dirty, and the place looked generally unkempt, and worse, on a downhill trend.

Old dirty monument situated in a busy part of town. Lots of bums use this as a hangout. Dirty water in the fountain. Avoid.

The square recently had a major cleanup and is now worth visiting. This is one of the rare well designed public spaces in Bloemfontein. It lies next to the historically significant President Brand street and enhances the surrounds of the Blemfontein city hall , Court of Appeals and parliament sensitively.

This is supposed to be a monument and park, but it's ill maintained, dirty and not a very safe place. It has so much potential, but unfortunately like so many nice things in our country, this is just going to waste...

Were last here during '90's and visited again. The place is littered and filthy. The ponds are a health hazard and a disgrace. It seems that some bums have made it their home as there were quite a few around hassling us for money. Never again.
