- Ray W188 contributionsTough climb back up but worth the trip for the views and the photos! The suspension bridges are about a fifteen to twenty minute walk from the services/rest area. Pretty easy going initially the gets steeper followed by lots of steps down to the river mouth. Not for anyone with walking difficulties. Bridges are sturdy and safe and offer great photo opportunities. It is a steep climb back up initially but then it is downhill back to the services.Visited January 2023Written 6 February 2023
- peach_293Central Coast, Australia24 contributionsIf near Tsitsikamma, at least do thisIf this is all you do in Tsitsikamma National Park (it was for us), it is well worth the park entry fee. A walk through the forest eventually leads you to the suspension bridge over the ocean, which is just beautiful to take in. We even spotted some Rock Hyrax’s doing their thing - an animal I didn’t know existed until we saw them.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 July 2023

He loved it! Glorious views, swirling sea, so good to see many people enjoying nature and challenging themselves in kayaks tooVisited November 2022Written 23 August 2023

There are a few different trails you can do we on did the small trail to visit the suspension bridge. Be advised their are plenty of steps and reasonable level of fitness is required and trainers or shoes. It took us just over an hour and well worth it, it was great to see and experience the views. There are also a few animals to stop on your walk round.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 November 2023

It cost about £30 for 2 to enter the National Park (SANparks tend to sting the international visitors) but the view is stunning. The walk to the suspension bridges is short but up and down quite a few steps. The walk across the THREE suspension bridges is exhilarating. There is a steep walk up the other side of the gorge to some viewpoints. We only went up to the first rocky outcrop but, from there, we were able to take some super photos of the gorge and the 3 bridges. A walk really worth doing.

Gorgeous walk in the tsitsikamma forest. The bridges move a lot when crossing them so some people got nervous.

What an experience, I'd do it again. Was there on a windy day and that did not stop us from walking through the trail. The interaction with people we came across was very friendly

This bridge suspended across the Storms river is a must for every hiker and can be done by those not so fit. There are two extra hanging bridges, so it’s three in total.
A must when visiting the garden route.

Don't often give poor reviews as I normally try to look for the positives. Have been visiting the Tsikamma National Park for over 20 years and in the past it was a beautiful natural location, with a nice restaurant and an enjoyable walk to the Suspension Bridge , which is now impossible..
It is like trying to enter Fort Knox with the antiquated registration system which must be chaotic on a busy day and, quite frankly, not cheap for a day pass - we paid 560
ZAR for the two of us and it was that bad that we left in under an hour. It is another place where there are subsided rates for local people which effectively means I am paying a lot more than is justified. Car parking is very poor and the building works are a total pain and have been for some time now.
Although we were given a map, someone needs to up date it and improve the signage as it was not clear where anything is located . The temporary restaurant is not at all inviting and quite frankly I would give this area a miss until all the building work is completed .
And then just to make you laugh, we then had to stop to be allowed out by showing the entry ticket which we had thrown into the boot of the car! Presumably that is because they want to check that nobody who has booked in as a day visitor has not decided to stay the night although, I think that is an extremely unlikely scenario!

Hello, I have limited mobility but this area looks truly beautiful. I want to know if I walk about 100-200 metres into it how many stairs I might have to climb and is it even worth the effort just to walk little bit into the hike. And secondly, if there is another place in Tsitsikamma that might be pretty and easily doable. Thank you.

Hola !

Viel Spaß in Südafrika

We were there about 5 hours, we arrived just as the gates opened, we took our time over the bridges (took loads of photos) hiked to the top of the mountain/ hill, and explored around the waterfront and were there roughly 5 hours. It was a rainy morning but don’t let that out you off we thought it was . beautiful. There is a handy little shop on site for drinks, snacks and gifts
