I would not recommend this tour to anyone and can only echo the other review that this tour only serves to show how run-down PE is. As if the description of the history of PE contained within the booklet is sparse and boring enough anyway the state of the buildings is tragically poor. With smashed windows and graffiti covering the... More

Its a nice part of town to walk around - and also for photo enthusiasts. Make sure you are prepared for a change in weather because the wind can change into rain! good walking shoes or trainers recommended

We had a friend who gave us a tour, but without her I think we would have missed many of the details. Perhaps put up some information signs?

We had a very enjoyable stroll exploring the different places of historical importance. A beautiful and informative leaflet can be obtained from the tourism office at the Donkin Reserve. The trail highlights various places of interest from the reserve to different historical buildings, galleries and museums. The trail could be better sign posted and one must be aware of the... More

A very useful booklet outlines the route of the Heritage Trail - the visitor will discover that you can start or finish anywhere along the route. We parked at Belmont Terrace which is pretty central and walked some of the trail, following the blue lines painted on the pavement, then drove to further sites. We managed to do most of the... More

The trail is a walk into the history of Port Elizabeth. Old historic buildings, interesting insight into the past and a possibility to compare with the new as well. The trail needs better marking through. More posters and notices would also help.

We arrived in early evening and parked by the Edward Hotel. We did not walk the entire trail, but spent about an hour walking around the precinct of the pyramid and lighthouse. I am glad to see Central is in a better condition now than it was a year ago. And the memorial and heritage displays are well done, including... More

We went there because we stayed closeby at Jikeleza Lodge and had some time to spend in the city. We were actually surprised by the whole area of how nice it is. The heritage trail could be explained better, but all in all it is worth a short visit. You can also go up the lighthouse (adults R10, children R5)... More

Whilst I left my partner in the cafe by the lighthouse, I set out to follow the trail - expecting to be about an hour. It took much longer than that as the route included steep hills and steps and there was a lot to read on the signage. Overall it was well worth the effort, although some of the... More
