After a long day driving from Barstow, California, with several stops along the route, made it to Bullhead City, Arizona. Bullhead City, situated on the Colorado River does not have a lot to see or do. If you are into camping, casinos and gambling or a water sport enthusiast this city is perfect for you. Looking for a place to park the camper and spend a few hours relaxing, we came across the 376-acre Bullhead City Community Park. This public park next to the Colorado River has numerous amenities, ranging from baseball field, boat launching facilities, public restrooms, riverfront beach and a museum. A day use parking fee is charged for utilizing the parking lot. Obtained the necessary parking permit, parked, and went exploring this Community Park. Located within the confines of the park is the Colorado River Museum. This white building adorned by a brown roof was constructed in 1947. This impressive building has a covered porch with several benches, the perfect location to escape the relentless beating sun. The interior of the building is dedicated to the history of Bullhead City and the surrounding area. Displays, maps, old photographs and dioramas reveal the history of this fascinating city. Staff is friendly and will provide a great deal of information about each item on display. We spent an hour viewing this historical collection of memorabilia and artifacts associated with Bullhead City. Well worth a visit if you are curious about this community, or just want to escape the baking sun.

I like this museum. Staffed by volunteers so open limited hours. Worth checking out esp if you want to learn about the History of the area and the indigenous people here before the white man.

the Colorado River Museum is now located in the bullhead city park very accessible and convenient. it was small but had several exhibits exploring early life in the area. from river life to mining and things in between there was a lot of information to digest. my favorite exhibit was the Louis L'amour exhibit and my small donation more than covered the value i found in that one exhibit. definitely worth stopping in.

You can spend a lot of time reading your way through this museum which has an excellent collection of local artifacts and history. The museum volunteers are quite knowledgeable and give a nice tour. The downside is that the museum is only open during the week, and is closed weekends and holidays.
