The lavender Pit is a large open pit mining hole in the ground. There is a large parking lot you can drive to and view the site. Very colorful and interesting on how they used to mine.

This is overwhelming in size. We love Bieber and go to the pit every time just to take in the magnitude of it. Obviously mixed feelings about this because the slag pit has destroyed an otherwise lovely community.

The lavender pit is an amazing site. There is a nice info board at the stop. If you are driving by, it’s worth the five minute stop but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way too much to see it.

For those of you who have never seen an open mining pit, this is it; a very BIG hole in the ground. Go by and check it out. It won't take you more than 5 minutess

It's no longer in operation, but it is a wonderful roadside stop to view the open pit. Wish there still was something for size reference so people could actualy realize how deep that pit is.

Staring down into this abyss surrounded by excavated soil --- literally a mountain's worth, gives us the fell about how big this was.
