What is The Thing? Come and see for yourself. It is 17 miles east of Benson and about 40 miles east of Tucson on Interstate 10 (Exit 322). Look around the spacious gift shop and purchase a few gifts, a couple of pieces of Indian Handmade or gold jewelry, some pottery, or one of the many other items available at this location. Do your shopping before you tour the museum and look for, The Thing . Because afterwards you will probably want to compose yourself and just sit awhile sipping a cold soda or try to calm your nerves by scarfing up an Ultimate Burger or shoveling down a cold DQ Blizzard at the Dairy Queen located right next door. This location also offers self-serve Shell fuel with 24 hr. pay at the pump service. Are you in the need of Diesel? Get it here!

Could not wait to see what this THING was, it cost a buck to find out, and it was just ok. Lots of touristy good things after. And a Dairy Queen is there!

We went to shop. They have a wide variety of gift, trinkets, and beautiful jewelry. We shopped, and then had lunch at Dairy Queen. Great place to find that one of a kind gift.

An Old School mid-twentieth century roadside attraction which probably hasn't changed much since then. There are gas pumps, a pleasant DQ, and a rather nice gift shop. It's $1--paid to the gift shop cashier--to go through the double doors and see the dusty, random, poorly...More

Like everyone else, I felt I had to stop and see The Thing after seeing all those signs! However, I admit that I cheated and Googled it beforehand so I knew what The Thing was going to be. That being said, I wasn't expecting there...More

We finally got to see the thing. It was a good place to stop and walk around. Don't expect to have your mind blown. It was just fun. It's cheap enough too.

Stopped here last night and it was only a dollar to enter.. kept seeing signs so took the family to the attraction. Was very inexpensive but the details and workmanship was well worth the stop. Enjoyed the attraction very much and do suggest everyone to...More

A lot of hype for the drive. I won't tell you what it is at the end of the walk, but I was disappointed since I drive an hour out of the way. If you are adventurous, then give it a go.
