The Kartchner Caverns are worth the effort to go see. You will need a car to get there. About 50+ miles southeast of Tucson. NO pets! You will also need a reservation. These tours book up fast so make your reservation early. There are 2 tours: the Big Room and the Throne Room. We did the Throne Room and we... More

Wow! Their reputation as among the best caverns in the US is well deserved. Even if you are lukewarm about exploring a cavern, this will delight you. The paths through are smooth and essentially paved with handrails. It is an easy walk. Our park ranger guide did a great job of pointing out the varied types and shapes of the... More

We've never been in a cavern before. This was an awesome experience. Our guide was very informative. We took one of the two tours offered. No disappointment here! Be sure to make a reservation for a tour!

This is a well maintained cavern facility tour that had the feel of a Disney tour: get on the ride, don't touch anything and listen. No room for self exploration. Doesn't compare to Carlsbad caverns (where did the "rated as #1 Cavern in the US come from "?). The tour guide had little clue about speleology or geology but rather... More

This cave is in nearly mint condition due to it's fairly recent discovery, however it's a bit one-note in details. The Rangers were knowledgeable, but their biggest trivia was the history of the cave's discovery. The environment is quite warm and damp for a cave. Having been to Carlsbad Caverns I was a little disappointed in the cave but for... More

My two young adult children loved it. We were a little early in the year to see the hummingbirds. Caverns are amazing! Food was average and expense. Next time I will pack a picnic

We drove from Phoenix which made it very tiring but we thought it was worth it. We've had never seen anything similar before. It was mesmerizing. Kids went crazy inside. Don't miss if you are in the area.

First off the good: It is a well preserved and maintained cave. The Rotunda room especially the Kubla Khan column is spectacular. The guides are usually quite knowledgeable and keep the tour interesting. The Bad: I had made reservations on line for the 11:20 rotunda tour. As per their write up in the ticket it expected us to come 1... More

This is a great visit! We did the tour of the Throne Room - the tour guides are knowledgeable and have a wonderful sense of humor. The tour is about an hour, with walking up and down hill - this is not an ADA friendly tour although they have a wheelchair that you're able to borrow. This is an awesome... More

This is a great place to see the inside of a cavern and learn about the conservation of it. They do a wonderful job of preservation, better than we have seen in others. These caverns are still living. There are 2 caverns and the main one is closed from April to October to allow for the bats to reproduce. Each... More
